Need help: is 12865 the right COSTCO Battery number?

I got a new costco battery for my 94 about a month ago. I drive my car every 2 or 3 weeks, probably twice since the new battery, but now it is dead for some odd reason.

Is #12865
800 cranking amps/ 640 cold cranking amps

the right battery as of now? They mentioned they didn't make one of the older batteries, but wanted to see what number you guys had for your Costco Battery. What number do you guys have for Costco Battery part number?

Thanks!

I just used a costco 51R. They should also have a manual by the battery rack telling you which one you need.

As long as it fits in the box and has the right post config, you should be straight. As far as warranty goes? They should take it back, no questions asked. If they do, just tell them you put it in the right car

Costco has an awesome return policy. I once bought a laptop (averatec=crap), got a new one before 6 months, then returned that one when it started ******* up, and finally bought a used powerbook g4... which doesn't break... ever.

Thanks for the info.

Does anyone else have a Costo item number for a battery?

Maybe mine was just defective.

alexdimen is right, the battery is referred to as a 51-R. This is the lighter, smaller battery with the reversed posts that fits the FD.

I'm looking right at my Costco receipt. I'm not sure this is a Costco stocking # but I'll tell you everything it says as I read across the line for the item purchased.

12848 51-425 BATRY ............ $39.48

Now that I look at it, 12848 probably is the # for that Kirkland battery. 51 is the size, and I believe 425 is the cold cranking amps. Mine has worked perfectly, btw.

12848 is different from your number. Whether Costco will let you make an exchange of one model battery for another, well I suppose that depends on how good Costco's customer relations, or your fancy talking and footwork is.

I think he's talking about the number for the stock size (which they have listed by the battery bin)... as opposed to the lighter 51R civic battery that everyone has been using.

Maybe. But it doesn't sound like the battery he has got matches up to the stock one either. He's listing the power of the Costco battery he's got as "800 cranking amps/ 640 cold cranking amps." That's a big honkin' battery, enough to juice my V8 luxury car. When I was doing my battery research before I purchased one the Mazda dealer was offering me a direct replacement battery that was group size 35 and had 550 cold cranking amps.
My guess is he has a size 35 that has more power than he needs. If he can switch it for a Kirkland 51R he can live happily ever after as many of us here have.
