I have a paper gasket I need to replace...

It comes from teh Top of the Efini Y-pipe and sits in between the top of the y-pipe and the crossover pipe. The stock y-pipe doesn't use a gasket, the efini Y-Pipe does.

I have a paper gasket sitting there that I need to replace.

 

Replace it with a metal gasket.

 

I have always just used the blue make a gasket stuff. It hasnt failed on me yet!

 

If it works,..it works.

BUT you risk the chance that some of the silicone might one day break off and end up clogging a vacuum line which in turn will cause boost abnormalities that will be a PITA to diagnose.

 

so the gasket is supposed to wrap around the efini y pipe?

 

I just threw on some blue RTV from Napa since I had it laying around.

Anyway, I'll let it dry for a couple hours and then run it later tonight. I'll see if it fixed my leak ;p

 

No, it goes between the flanges. Thats one of the upside of the pipe replacment is that you no longer need to would a silicon coupler there. That coupler is know the rip and leak boost due to it placment in the hot engine bay.
