Ryan, there are quite a few reasons that your car could be overheating. Ten years ago, these cars were the best bang for the buck, so it's likely yours has been used and abused.

How long have you had the car, and what maintenance have you performed so far? There is a thread in the FAQ about recommended maintenance and upgrades, I suggest you read it.

Reliability mods / $1000 to spend:

I also recommend you read the entire FAQ. Third Gen RX-7's are known to break if you neglect them, overheat them, or increase the boost too much.

A coolant flush is a great place to start. Throw in a bottle of water wetter if you do it. Leaving the AC on full blast in traffic will make it overheat. Good luck.

first thing to check: does ur car have a under-engine cover tray? if your car doesn't over heat when its warmed up, and starts to after a short while, lots of times its because the air's not passing through the radiator but escapes out underneath.

2: check coolent lvl (or like Barban said, add a bottle of Redline Water Wetter, you can get from pep boys)

5: Fan, see if it ever comes on when its hot w/out the a/c turned on

4: Thermostat

5: Water Pump.

6: all workes well, then if u have a original factory radiator, then maybe its time to get a new one like koyo or fluidyne. the resins may have clogged the radiator too much. even if u get radiator flushed or cleaned, the corrosions may have weakend the radiator core.

Because right now, it's not summer yet, and its not too hot here in Cali, so you're car shouldn't be overheating.

Can you define "overheat"?

The reason I ask is that a lot of new owners hear the "Low Coolant" buzzer and think it's an overheating warning sound. Are you seeing the gauge sky rocket to HOT or are you just hearing the buzzer?
