Need advise.. How much do you think this rx7 is worth??

1993 RX7 Touring Package, Montego Blue, 5-speed. PRICE INCLUDES 3 year 30,000 mile warranty. Car has new motor and performance upgrades; intercooler, intake, downpipe, cat-back exhaust, turbo timer and alarm.

How much is this car worth. Before the new motor the car had 86k on it. It only has around 1k on the new motor.

Are there any import dealers in the dallas area I should stay away from???

Well, if it doesn't have an ECU, expect to be on the 3rd engine very soon..

I am assuming it does, Do you think this could not be the case. He told me the new motor + labor cost him 4500 with recipts. I dunno, it sounds like a ok car. He is selling it for 15k.

That price might be a little bit high. I take it the warranty is only on the engine? With those mods, if he blew the engine, it would probably be from running lean, and they wouldn't cover it.

Yea, It only covers the engine. He also has another one for sale with no mods and the same warranty. Would this be a better buy. Basically the same car, new motor, 90k on the car, same warranty. This is a small import dealer and he always has a few "7"'s in the lot. My girl totaled her car so I want to buy her one.. "really so I can drive it... teeheehee"

Not to detract too much from your thread, but I don't understand why people ask "how much do you think a car is worth"?

Isn't worth based on the an individual determines it to be? Therefore, all individuals place a different "value" on any particular item. So that means that your determined "value" would be different than my "value" for the same item.

So why do people constantly ask these questions (and especially on this forum)? Quite simply, if people would do a little bit of "shopping", they can very well gauge the going price for say....a RX-7. A salvage titled vehicle, bare chassis, a beaten RX-7, one in okay condition, one in pristine condition, etc.

For the car mentioned, some people would pay 15K. Others more. Others less.

You might want to also look at how much YOU can afford to pay. Also keep in mind of the modifications that YOU want to make and their costs, unless you want to keep it stock/as is. That'll help you determine how much YOU can afford when purchasing a car. These rules apply, unless you have a large source of money to spend on this car.

have you shopped around or are these the first ones you have seen?....this was a very important factor for me in determining what i was looking for....i saw 15 or more rx7s and drove half of them before i fell for one....the first few always seem like the best because you want one so bad!!!....take your time and be sure you get what you want....dont disappoint urself...then the price will just find you....good luck!

The reason I asked the question on this forum is simple. My girl totaled her car, I have 7 days to buy her a new one due to her work schedule. I needed to get a feel for the price and quickly. Not the best way to buy a car, but I really dont have much time.

try and look at at least a few.....these cars are not really the most reliable unless taken care for meticulously....check for smooth shifting....check for even braking...if possible take a boost gauge...(20.00 at your local auto parts store) and verify proper boost sequence..10-8-10.....check under car for leaks....check under hood for loose vaccuum hoses...check for all around cleanliness.....check for normal operating temps when running...check for decent oil pressure(40-60psi after warm up)....check for smoke on COLD start.....(alittle is acceptable...should go away within a few seconds on a fresh motor).......then after test drive...shut off and immediately start again...(hot start)....im sure others will think of more..lol....

This is the car at LAmotorcars, right? I've heard good things about the place, but I don't have any experience. I think you pay on the higher end there, but nothing too crazy. I think they get their cars checked out by a local rotary shop. The price isn't that bad, but if you had more time you could find a better deal.

Are you sure you want to buy this kind of car for your girlfriend? After she totalled her last car? Sounds like a bad idea to me. Don't buy it just 'cos its pretty.

I think you had better shop around while you still have time. DO NOT rush into a purchase (especially a RX-7). I think your girl and YOU would appreciate it more if you had a car which was not at the shop all the time.

Don't buy the car because it looks good on the outside. A fast looking car doesn't mean nothing, if it is sitting on jack stands all the time. And if you purchase a junker, you'll just be more pissed at the amount of money you spent on it. And then, she'll decide on another car.

One thing to ask yourself is this. A RX-7 is a higher maintenance car than your typical piston engined car. WHO is going to do/pay for the maintenance work. You or your girlfriend?

Although, you must be some boyfriend to buy his girl a 15k car.

It's a good shop. I bought my CYM from Lance a few months ago. Good service, but high price. You pay a premium for the warranty, and a car that 99% of the time comes to you in excellent shape.

The warranty covers all major components. Engine (as long as it doesn't overheat), turbos, a/c, factory radio, transmission, etc, etc...

Is this the montego blue with the rims on it? If so, it's in pretty good condition. Leather seats are a little worn, but not many aren't.

I posted the same question on this forum when I was contemplating my car. It was 93 black R1 with 3k miles on new motor, healthy turbos, DP, GAB shocks, short shifter, AST, K&N, turbo timer, and guages. It had 77k original miles

I posted here because I did not know much about these cars only that they require a lot of Know how and maintenence. So I thought after looking around to ask the question here, get answers from the "pros."

DOMFD3S is right about how much worth the car is to you, but what you're seeking is objective info from people who know the cars and there's no problem with that. I think it sounds like a grea deal, but just do all the tests to make sure. Oh and I paid 16.8k for mine 7.

make sure your girl knows how to take care of it!
Good luck!

Yea, its at LAmotorcars. Yea, I think my girl will be fine with the car. She only drives in town and only puts about 6k on a car a year. She will be fine with the power, she drives my supra and gets all over it...

Thanks you for the info..

Yea, Its the blue one.. You could save me some time here. Have you looked at that car already. Is it worth the drive from houston to take a look, and consider it. If you did not look under the hood how was the body/paint. And, by the way, as you can tell I am new to the RX7 scene and I really reallly appreciate all the good tips you guys are giving me. Trust me, I do want to know what I am getting myself into and I appreciate all the comments. Thanx again.

I'll be going up there today after work, to give Lance a rim, I'll check it out for ya. Are there any others that you might be interested in? If so, let me know and I'll check those out for ya too.

Wow, Thanx alot. I think he told me he has 5 in stock. Take a look the best ones in your opinion and let me know. My main concern is the motor, low milage, 5-speed, and overall condition. I just want to make sure I am not wasting my time. I have to take a day off work for this. So if you see a killer car not just the blue one, please let me know. Thank you so much for your help. Cant wait to hear about them!!!
