I say take that offer. It's too good as it is already. Just look around the market of an FD. They are low as ****. If you want just two more lousy grand, you might ended up waiting forever, and as the other mention, you might ended having to lowering it lesser then the 30K that you had intended to sell it for.

You will regret selling that car for the rest of your life. Sell your wife instead. Low mileage women are easier to come by than low mileage SSM R2 Rx7's!

I've seen this car in person and as a fellow FD owner, Its by far the cleanest FD I've seen (Ok.. Dublup's Fd comes very close)!

I personally think its worth every penny you are asking.. 95 R2 Silver, only 1 of 16 with 20+K miles?? Sure it might be the worst time to sell since there are like gazillion FD owners trying to dump their cars all at once.. but you need to remember that @ Barrett Jackson they sold a 94 for $29k (http://www.barrett-jackson.com/aucti....asp?id=184343).

Few other Barrett-Jackson FDs..
http://www.barrett-jackson.com/aucti....asp?id=184321
http://www.barrett-jackson.com/aucti....asp?id=184341

I think yours is worth it.. But like anything else, its supply/demand/ and how despirate you need the money. If I had money, i would consider buying it! Just because it so rare...

john, youve heard my stance on it, but that was during different circumstances. im finding it hard to be pleased with this "new" price. itd be nice to be out from under it, but youll ALWAYS remember that car. . . and no other FD will be as nice. if you can live with that, then go for it. . . but if you cant, you better start figuring something out!!!

Not that my car is worth $30k, but if someone offer me $30k for it; it would be gone in a heartbeat. Its just a car.

I do agree.. If someone offered me 30k for my MB fd, I would sell it, use half the money and start over It wouldn't be a clean 95 R2, but it still is an FD.

You know, back around '01-'02, I was at an Audi dealership buying my wife an A4. It was a summer day, so I had taken the FD to work. I had several salesmen as well as customers ask if my car was for sale. In hindsight, I should have sold it because the only people typically interested in buying these cars today are young kids who don't want to (or can't afford to) spend more than $10-12k for a car.

I suggest anyone on this forum who gets an offer like this to sell it. Chances are, you aren't going to see another one like it unless you just 'happen' to find a car enthusiast or collector looking to get one.

Agree but if invested correctly $30K would yield more than $10K profit in 10-20 yrs.

Answering to your question:

Yes, I would let it go for $30K...very few people would spend that type of money on a 12 yrs old "fragile" car (2006 is almost over).

Coming from a Supra owner who's looking for exactly that type of car (mint, late year, not modified to hell, low mileage) I say don't sell. FD's like that seem to be more rare as the years go on. I say keep it and enjoy your increasingly valuable, mint example of a true Japanese sports car.

Here's the main question: Since you are looking for a car like that, would you pay $30k for that car? More to the point, the car could be yours today for $32k which is what he wants.

My point is a lot people will say "Yea, that car is worth more than $30k". However, when you ask them if they would pay $30k for one they will say no. Its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Right now, he has someone willing to spend $30k for it. The next person may only be willing to spend $20k for it. With the low mileage on it, it doesn't sound like he's enjoying the car enough to drive it.

If you are serious about selling the car, sell it for the 30k you were offered. It's hard enough sometimes to find a buyer when you are asking 18-20k, you may wait for a VERY LONG TIME trying to get another 2k out of the deal.

Is it really worth holding out for 2000 dollars when you could risk burning one of the few buyers who would actually pay 30k for a car, and have the money to do so?

Treat it like a business deal. If you do, it will be a no-brainer taking the 30k and running.

30K is a great price, so is 32K I bought a 95 with less miles for 27K, but it wasn't an R2. And I think I got a pretty good price for what I have. I saw a silver 95 PEP go for 32K on Ebay, with less than 8k miles. I think you could get more but 30k is still a great price for you. All that bs said, wtf are you thinking? Why would you sell that car? What could you possibly buy to take the place of a car like that? I'm sorry, I guess your allowed to downgrade.LOL

Absolutely.
I just started looking for a 7 to replace my single'd Supra.
I would buy it but, taking the advice of some forum members here, I'm going to spend some time doing research to get more knowledgeable so I can make a better purchase decision.

That word "but" is the exact thing that proved my point. I would buy it, but there are so many decent RX-7s for almost half the price is basically what you are thinking but not saying.

This is exactly why he should sell it. Guessing on whether the car is going to appreciate any more *IF* he never drives it and keeps the mileage where its at is a big gamble; not to mention the waste of a car. Driving it is going to rise the mileage, thus lowing its resale. Its a catch-22, damned if you don't damned if you do.

Check the forsale section and see how many of these cars go for $30k and then you'll realize its in his best interest to either

a: sell the car for 30k
b: start driving the crap out it and enjoy it

I am the buyer of this gem. I will be picking it up from John over the weekend.

I look forward to being a member on this forum and learning about RX7s from you guys.

I have had two 1998 NSXs, and will be selling my 2001 911 Turbo because my wife and I are expecting our first child. I think the RX7 will be a blast to own.

In 1995 there were 16 SSM R2 sold in USA...made this GEM very rare.

Park Place Porsche in Dallas sold a 1995 SM with red interior (not sure if R2) for $28K not too long ago...

Take good care of her...
