NASTY Fuel Cut Problem--Experts please advise (searched)
Hey guys--In 3rd gear, around 6,500rpm, I'm hitting fuel cut.
My mods are Intake, SP, DP, MP, CB, IC, UDP.
I'm running no more than 12.5psi (at least that's what it's reading).
I know the car is running EXCESSIVELY rich. The guy who tuned it did that. The car almost seems faster at 3/4 throttle, as opposed to full, because it's pouring so much gas. The A/F meter is reading ALL the way into the green (the last 4 or 5 green bars). My car's silver, and the bumber above the CB is brown. It reeks...BADLY.
I know that if I turn down the boost, it will go away--I've done that. Is there any way to tell if my injectors are maxed out, or if their clogged, etc. w/out a PFC? (I'm looking into getting one)
Is it the computer that's shutting off the injectors? Why? Is it a preventative measure to avoid detonation?
Also--will those eBay fuel pumps do the trick for an upgrade?
Throw me some ideas. TIA,
-BN

if your running 12.5 psi on the stock ecu, thats why you got the fuel cut. IT cuts from 11 to 12 psi depending on the gear and the rpm.
get an ecu before you need a new engine.
EDIT: I see you have an ecu, i dunno.

What gauge are you using to show you your boost pressure? If you are using an autometer gauge they are notorously off by as much as 1.5 psi. You might be boosting over the 14.7 psi limit and thats why your injectors might be maxing out. Just my .02.

Your ECU setup is unfamiliar to me, so it might still be the stock boost-related fuel cut. But I suspect you have a chipped ECU with the fuel cut removed, so that probably isn't it.
Reading nearly full rich is what you want on a turbo rotary (something like 12:1 seems to be about what you should shoot for) -- if it goes stoich (14.7) under boost, you will blow the engine. And besides, narrow-band O2 sensors are completely useless for tuning (if you didn't go out an specifically research and buy a "wideband" sensor, you don't have one). Narrow band sensors can be useful for some things, but don't trust the numbers you read off it.
It is probably that you are so rich that it misfires up top. Put in fresh spark plugs and see if that changes anything. You might need fresh tuning (buy a PowerFC and get it tuned on your car) to fix it. An ignition amp or fresh spark plug wires may also help.

first of all, your A/F ratio gauge (if it is using the stock O2 sensor) is not really telling you anything at all! It's crap man so please disregard everything it tells you. Also, the Black soot you are getting can come from any rpm so it also does not tell you anything at all.
Secondly, I agree with maxcooper when he says it might be so rich that it misfires up top. Put in fresh spark plugs and see if that changes anything.
As for your question about "Is there any way to tell if my injectors are maxed out, or if their clogged, etc. w/out a PFC? (I'm looking into getting one)", yes there is, simply buy a multimeter with a duty cycle function and hook it up to your ecu or injector wire or buy a AVC-R and hook that up to your ecu. (PM me if you wanna know which wires to tap for your multimeter)
As for the question, "Also--will those eBay fuel pumps do the trick for an upgrade?" They might be but why take the chance, just buy a quality part that will support what you want.
Lastly, if you know your running into fuel cut, don't go and purposely hit it for god sakes!
P.S. Where in the heck did ya get the Rick 'James' stiles supercars ECU from? I have never heard of this brand before.

Dude toss that ECU and get a real Engine Management system before you buy another motor. Running a MP will cause you to blow the car up if you are not carefull.

The ECU is the EXACT same chipset as the Pettit ECU, but it was tuned by the monkeys at Rick Stiles Supercars, as opposed to the monkeys at Pettit.
I agree that the A/F meter is worthless.
The engine is less than 10k old, so I wouldn't think that the plugs would be bad, but they're worth looking into.
sometimes the autometer boost gauge reads 21vac, and I'll tap it, and it'll go to19.5ish, so it could be off overall. I'll turn the boost down a smidge.
thanks for the help--if anyone else cares to comment, please feel free. thanks,

I used to have a used Rick Stiles ECU and it was the worst thing I ever did to my car. It hit fuel cut whenever it felt like it and it just made the car sluggish, slow and shitty overall. I now have the Pettit ECU and its 150 times better than that crappy Stiles ECU, I would look into getting rid of that thing for sure or if you happen to have a friend with a different chipped ECU I would ask him if you can use it to see if it solves your problems, I wouldnt be surprised if it did, good luck.
