Nagisa Auto Shakkito Plate

anyone have this installed? i need some pics to help make me a decision!

ive been wanting this for a while but wanted some input from people that had it already before i took the plunge!

the shakkito plate mounts to the top of the strut towers and to the firewall as well. its supposed to help reduce the load on the strut towers during heavy braking..

any thoughts?

indeed.

does anyone think it will really help?

ive seen Rally cages that have beams through the firewall and attach to the shock tower, im pretty sure that has the same function..without actually building a $5,000+ cage..

I'd like to see pics of this if you have any. I get the concept but there isn't that much room on top of the strut towers to connect a reinforcement bar.

i found some pics at a vendor's site.. www.more-japan.com

Shakkito plate..no its not food:

it seems you may have to drill into the firewall to mount it, if Rally teams use the same concept in their cages, im pretty sure that having that chassis reinforcement on the street would help out a lot..

Panspeed also sells a firewall brace, its basically a big sheet of carbon that connects around the strut towers and the whole firewall:

If you have to ask how much you probably don't want to know though. Panspeed in general isn't a "non functional parts" kinda company, so I'd think it would be worth something. I don't know how the differences between LHD and RHD would affect fitment though...

I am very skeptical as to that carbon firewall brace's actual benefits with regards to the front end's overall rigidity. When used as a structural component, proper design and construction of carbon fiber is critical, because the fiber's major strength is along its "grain"; it doesn't withstand torsional forces very well unless it's seriously beefed up, which adds weight that would negate its main advantage.

Also, attaching it to the main body in a way that would assist in structural rigidity would be much more than just bolting it on.

Yeah I agree that carbon is something that requires some real care when using as a stressed member to actually provide a benefit. Panspeed does alot of specialized stuff, so I'd think if anyone would do it right it would be them, but who knows. For the over 2000 dollar price tag and questionable fitment I surely won't be trying one anytime soon. Let us know how those fender braces work out Panic, I always wondered if they'd be a worthwhile addition to an FD.

The panspeed car is either the fastest or second fastest (haven't looked at recent times) 'street' class circuit FD in Japan (ever) - so they must be doing something right.

Agreed, and I never implied that they weren't. It's just that the carbon fiber firewall "brace" pictured cannot have sufficient strength to adequately reinforce the car's body unit, especially when you consider the difficulty of trying to attach carbon fiber to steel in a structural manner. If it's listed as a just a cover of some sort, no worries, but a brace? Maybe to hold the hood up...

thats true, i dont know if you can fasten the carbon fiber to the steel and have an actual increase in structural rigidity. im really interested to find out how it works..

if not, its cool. i already bought my shakittos and in regards to the panspeed brace, it costs too much anyways. haha

Bump.

Any feedback on the Nagisa Shakitto plates? Curious if fitment is the same for LHD as well as RHD cars.

That kit from JP Motorsports you can just ask them if it fits LHD/RHD. Most likely it does both.

IMHO this is all show. Unless you're seriously competitively racing the car you won't notice any substantial difference.

Yes, hence the "Bump" with the added smiley face for good measure. Most people don't bump active threads because that would be weird.

Just asked Jehan. Needs some drilling and creativity to fit LHD cars, so it's a no go. But yeah I wouldn't expect any perceivable difference whatsoever.

No creativity needed to fit LHD cars it's a direct fit (not sure on fitment with cruise control). If you want it functional you need to drill the holes to fit the M8 hardware. If you are buying this as a cosmetic piece you can just tap the firewall holes for M6 (the holes are the same size as M6) and secure it that way. Tapping allows you to revert back to normal with the rubber piece of you decide to sell the plates.
