mystery coolant leak.
mystery coolant leak.
So a couple weeka ago I replaced my alternator and managed to disintegrate the small bypass hose right behind it. I started getting low coolant buzzers and figured I had some air in the system and it needed to be burped. I bought my lisbon funnel and got to work. Topped off the resevoir and also made sure the system was full to the brim. Every couple of days I'd get the buzzer, but only for roughly 20 seconds then I wouldn't hear from it again. While at work today I noticed a couple drops under my car and decided there must be a leak. Under the drivers side there's some coolant moisture. Above the spark plugs there are some rails and it appears to have white crusty coolant remnants and also traces of it leaking down the side of the motor. There is no visible leak though. Anyone else run into an issue like this?
the plastic piece that holds the coolant line in place right below the spark plugs is prone to failure. probably not noticeable until up temp and at full pressure but it will **** coolant out through a pin hole.
We found a small leak after we pressure tested it multiple times, it ended up being a temperature sender for the gauge, small spade connection sender. Swapped a new one in and all seems to be well. Also have what appears to be an A/C leak over in that area that had me chasing down a phantom leak.
