Mysterious sound coming from under the glovebox

So my most recent FD mystery comes in the form of a constant noise that seems to be coming from under the glovebox area. To describe it best, it sounds like a CD player that keeps trying to eject over and over. Does anyone have an idea about what's down there and what it might be? What I can check?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe one of the controls for the heater/AC air flow direction is somehow cycling.
That is the only thing in that area that could make that type of noise.

The "fan motor" can get anything in it from leaves to critters. Turn off the ac/heater fans and see if it stops.

Easy to drop the fan out and clean.

I do know this noise is present with or without the fan/ac on.

Did you ever figure out what was causing the noise?
