My Tranny no worky no more:(

Heading home after a short cruise the Tranny starts to slip as it jumps into 2nd. Rpms shoot up as if it's in neutral. So I let off the accelerator and then it Tranny slowly engages.

I make it to next stop light. When I try to go forward the car just stays there while the Engine just revs so effortless. I finally get it to move and I make it to a parking lot close to my house. I place it in low Hold. Nothing. I place it in Drive. Nothing. So I turn off the car and turn it back on. Presto. The tranny is working but still slipping a bit.

I'll check the fluid level, but something tells me it's a gonner.

5 speed conversion, here I come.

Auto FDs should only be for racing the 1/4, like GeForce autos. If not then ALL FDs should be 5speed!

thats what just happend on my auto tranny, your def gunna need a rebuild. I had the same prob and had to drive the car to the trans shop i was going too, everytime i get up to a nice cruisin speed im fine but once you come to a stop its veryyyyy hard to get back goin so i had to continuously pull over and turn off turn on the engine. I did want to opt for the 5speed conversion but for the deal i got on the auto tranny i couldnt go wrong, plus i didnt feel confident in these guys doin the 5spd swap

That's the problem I'm having too. I'm still considering going with a 5 speed. I already have my personalized licence plate picked to read: AUTO-2-5

^^ haha

But seriously, please, for the sake of the FD, dont even consider putting in an auto tranny. Take this problem as a sign to finally ditch the auto, and start the 5 speed conversion. It'll be better in the long run.

It would be a "no brainer" to do the conversion IF all the needed seperate parts were plentiful. The biggest discouragment to going with the conversion is finding a good manual Tranny with low miles. Another thing is that I rarely see aluminum clutch/brake pedal assemblies for sale.

Well yeah, i can see where that would be a big road block, but i'm sure if you just give it a little bit of time, you could find the parts needed. And the outcome will be so much better.

Good luck with deciding what route to take, and trying to find what you need. If you do happen to choose the 5 speed conversion, post pics of the install.

You're a funny guy Actually, I plan on pulling out the engine/tranny together, regardless of the final tranny type decision.
