My sway bar mount BUSTED

So last night, I was taking off my front end, and putting on my Knightsport front end, and taking the wheels and wheel well splash guard, what do I see? A sway bar mount that is broken in two. Like the drivers side of the sway bar is no longer attached to the car. I wish I had some pictures to show you guys, but I don't.

Anyways, I tried to weld it back on, as a temporary fix. but that didn't turn out too well.

Anyone else had that happen to them? I don't think it's something common, so I can only assume it had an impact of some sort, though there's nothing that pops into mind.

Anyways, I had noticed lately that my car handles like it has really low tire pressure. I guess I found out why.

The thing that sucks, is that I have an autocross tommorow. So I would be racing the 7, I guess. I guess I'll race in my brothers del sol vtec.

evidently, it's pretty common. From www.m2performance.com :

The OEM swaybar mounts are made of flimsy thin walled metal and are prone to developing stress fractures and cracking. These units are a direct replacement and are made to withstand the elevated forces transmitted to the swaybar from driving the car on the track, particularly when using race compound tires.

heavy duty replacements from M2 are $279

martini how do you get to over 4000 posts and not realize these things bust all the time?

So far the Tripoint braces are holding mine together...

The sway bar mount is a common problem. Check your radiator! I've heard from a few people when the mount breaks or bends it can damage the bottom of the radiator because the radiator rests on top of the mounts.

The M2 mounts are from Mazda Comp. You can get racers price through them.

I had a bent one. Bought a new one from Mazda with the Racing Beat reinforcer bar.

So how exactly did the car feel? Did it have more body roll? MY car started feeling twitchy when I had new 245/45 tires put on the rear and moved the 225/50's up front. I thought I broke the swaybar mount, but I looked at them and they seam ok. Installing matching tires up front to replace the worn out ones seams to have solved the problem, but I could have sworn something was wrong with the suspension. I plan to upgrade mine eventually, but don't know what to get. BTW, I hear they break when you run stiffer bars. I wonder if this is going to be a problem when I install energy suspension bushings on my stock bars.
