My SSM FD build - Finally on the way
Ok well after buying parts for many months I decided to finally tear into it.
Stock 93 SSM with 38K miles.
All Stock except for Springs/shocks
I will show pictures of what I have done as it comes along.
Goal is 325-350 reliable hp.

Motor is out of the car. Yes I know 38K miles and I pulled it.
Here are the Stock turbos before they get worked by Garfinkle Motor Works (GMW) who will be doing all of my specialty work through out this build.
And the Alum oil pan that was on that is not going back on. Going back to stock with a Garfinkle oil pan brace

Now to move on to the fuel system.............
Relocated the fuel filter and upgraded to a gm filter. No more trying to get my arm all the way up on the axle.
Dont like the AN fitting as they are costly and alum. After much talk with David he convinced me to go this route with my fuel lines. I think they are called JIC fittings and work like AN but cheaper and are metal.
The fuel lines under the car were removed and Jic fittings welded on to have a perfect connection.
Went ahead and milled the primary rail incase I ever want to run my secondaries in the primary.

New rats nest to go along with my new fuel system. Stock harness was thinned out and alot of the vacuums not needed were removed. This new rats nest GMW made is very nice and makes it cleaner and simple.

Yeah.. I found that out yesterday. Since I spent the money on magnetic numbers I didn't want them to go to waste. I tried running as S "upside down 2" M. It didn't work .

I had the pleasure of seeing Chad's car when I was home on leave in October. It is one of the cleanest FD's I've seen in a long time. IMO he is building the perfect street FD(with the exception of I would stayed sequential.... but with Garfinkle's mod's with NS, lag really isn't that bad). Car's like his are getting more and more rare everyday.
Car is looking great Chad!!! And Chad will end up running SSM at the AutoX this year so the thread title is a 2fer per say. All the cool kids in the Nashville area have SSM FD's apparently... haha. Looks like "Mr. Sparkles" is joining the club as well.

I am staying sequential. With 38k miles it works too well not to.
My build has hit a slump, and time is killing me right now. I will have to bring it back home in a week or two finished or not, since I cant get to it like I was able to in the winter.
More pics to come as it moves on.

Dan, now that you will have a "street FD" for the first time in a long time, you can drive it to get togethers now... as long as you aren't dressed as Mr. Sparkles
