is it my slave cylinder or what?

i just tried some searching and after hearing about broken clutch forks, i'm unsure of my problem. i've got the act xtreme clutch setup for one. since i've had it (about a year) i've rebuilt my slave cylnder 3 times because i've lost pedal pressure. last week, i was coming from a friend's house, downshifted to 2nd and the clutch got real tight, but still somewhat engaged. i knew something was up, so i pulled off. after i got it parked, everytime i pushed the clutch in, it got tight and if the motor was running, i could feel a slight vibration when pushing. it's now locked up and i can't get it in any gear because i can't disengange the clutch. did i fry the slave again? or is it the master cylinder or the clutch fork? i didn't feel anything break, it was more progressive than a sudden feeling

hummm

ok problem 1 you shouldnt have to rebuild the slave 3 times. Check the bore this time when you pull it and check for pits/corrosion etc.... Maybe time for a new one.

Problem 2--you can even get it engaged to disengaged? Im a little lost on that. Usually I have noticed if you replace the slave the Master has a good chance of going too.

you problem sounds mech to me though, do you hear any noises? When does it get tight? Righ when you start to push it? or towards the floor?

the first time i rebuilt it was just for safety measures when i put the car back together. then twice it's lost pressure to the pedal, so i've rebuilt it. i didn't know a slave cylinder was so cheap, or i'd have bought a new one instead. basically it kind of feels like that rod slipped off the clutch fork and is binding againt something. if i push on the pedal, it's stiff and won't compress. the clutch doesn't disengage when i push on it, so i can't even start it or drive.

i would think if the clutch fork broke, i would have felt it and/or heard it. it was performing perfectly right before i went to downshift into 2nd and i had been in 5th and was downshifting to each gear, then when i got to second, it had just done it. i might also note that it's probably the coldest weather it has ever been in, which was around 15*F

put your car up on one side and slide under it where your tranny and motor meet and unscrew the little view hole at the bottom of the bell housing... look up w/ the flashlight... you will know if its broke.... it always snaps on the bottom where the dowel pin goes through the arm.

well the thing is, the car is an hour away at my girlfriend's house. i haven't had time to get under it and was just trying to get an idea of what it is so i might be able to get parts ready. i can't really remember how the setup looks from when i did my motor swap, but can i put a new one in without dropping the tranny?

Ok maybe Im slow, why would a broken clutch fork make it hard to press in? Wouldnt a BENT one be more of a factor here? I think if it was broken the peddle would just drop to the floor?

Or have I just not been on a stock clutch? hehe I really do like my OS Giken

it'll cost ya 70.88 shipped from malloy and if you want it next day, it's another $32, but he'll split the cost with you so you only have to pay $16

Ouch, can we say highway robbery??

Spoolin', do you know a Dr. Jack Hedrick up there in Salem?? He's an optometrist. Anyway, I hope that it is just your clutch fork and nothing else. Let us know if we can be of any help.

Well now i have a problem as well. I have been having hydraulic problems since I bought the car a little under a year ago. I went out for a drive last week and in the middle of stop-go traffic the clutch just stayed on the floor, no pressure what so ever. What has been happening in the past is that whenever i leave the clutch in and put the car in gear...i seem to loose pressure. Any ideas?
