My RX-7 update...sigh

Hey everyone, been awhile since I last posted. Just got back from vacation, found out my wife and I are pregnant, and everything has just been busy. Haven't driven the car in over a week and a half. I installed a different stock map sensor which fixed all of the smoking my car was doing, and also eliminated most of the bucking. I installed new plugs as well. All four of the old ones were VERY dark. At last drive, the car was MUCH smoother on take off and acceleration, still having backfiring a little. I haven't gotten into boost yet with just 600 miles on the motor. I am still having a cold start issue. I will start it up and it will rev to 2k, then just fall right back and die. As soon as I start it again, it will stay on. I am also finding that at sometimes after I release the clutch, it will spring back half way up, then lose it's momentum and just hang there! Along with that, if I am drving then throw it in neutral, the rpms are sometimes climbing to 2k! SO...I know there is a clutch issue...not sure what, but I know there is one. If I am at a stop light with the clutch in, I will go through all of the gears and when I let out, the clutch will catch not even a 1/4" off the floor...then if I push it back all the way in, the shifter stick won't come out of gear....I think this is causing the remaining issues with the car. Since the map is fixed, I am getting a more clear diagnosis on the rest of the symptoms.
