Bricke, KBB back in the day was between $11K and $13K IIRC. Now (after F&F 3) it's up to $17K - $19K easy. So yes, the cars have definitely appreciated in value (its about time!)

PS: I PMed ya btw

Not that I'm complaining, but where do you get 17-19? KBB still says 11-13 (w 115k miles).

hey Bricke!

item location: 93401 = San Luis Obispo. Unfortunately expect to pay more for a car here in California.

Yup, thats true. But how much was a low mileage 95 worth 3 years ago?

For comparison :

95 w/115k miles = $12-15k
95 w/50k miles = $17-19k
93 w/115k miles = $11-13k
93 w/50k miles = $13-15k

As far as I know 3 years ago my 93 was worth the same amount, so its holding value, just not worth as much as a newer car with less miles. Were low mileage 95's really worth $6k less in the past?

I wanna see FD's in the $20s ONLY from now on!!! Lets actually try and help our cars mature in value!

Well hopefully the for sale add is for real. It doesnt look like it is going to sell for $23k. I remember you building the car up over the years, it would be pretty cool if you ended up with it again.

I'm scared to cross the potomac Seriously though I grew up in md, moved to cali, back to dc, and now back to md. I'm bummed though, I just failed the safety inspection on the rx-7 so I might have to put everything back to stock. Or at least make it look like everything is back to stock.

I'm just thinking back to not quite 2 years ago. I had a hard time selling it for $17k, I'm just not sure it's worth $6k more now. I'll have to see what a local one goes for. Maybe starting over might be cheaper.

If you are looking for a new project, then I would say start over..But if you just want your FD back that you have put so much time and money into, talk to the guy and make him a reasonable offer..

I'm really curious what ther $7k he claims to have spent at Mariah was on. The only difference added in the description from when I sold it is the Greddy Turbo Timer and the aluminum radiator cover. If the engine is still the same one I had done at A-Spec (which he claims) I don't see where that kind of money could have possibly went into it.

It was parted out at AIM Tuning, so that others may live.

Just Kidding.

The car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. He might find a buyer for that price or he might not. But, it's his prerogative to put his asking price where ever he deems it should be.

However, I would be a little mift if I sold my car for $15k and then the buyer turned around and sold it for $20k.

Well I asked him about the $7k charges. Apparently that's what he paid to make it 'smog legal' in CA including the used OEM parts, labor, and tuning, then changing it back to it's current setup. Not sure why the next buyer should have to pay for him making it smog legal, it was his choice. Seems a rip off to me. Just IMO.

Here's the message I got back:

Thanks for your email. These are works done by Mariah:

REMOVE FRONT MOUNT I/C AND ALL PIPING WITH
BLOW OFF VALVE; INSTALL O.E. I/C AND PIPING (USED)
INSTALL O.E. (USED) AIR PUMP & BRACKET & HOSES
INSTALL NEW MULTI-V BELT
RE-HOSE AIR CONTROL VALVE, (NEW) HOSES
INSTALL (USED) O.E. CAT-EQUIPPED DOWNPIPE
INSTALL (NEW) RANDOM TECH FREE FLOW CAT
INSTALL (USED) O.E. AIRFILTER BOX & (NEW) FILTER
ELEMENT
REMOVE KOYO RADIATOR & INSTALL (USED) O.E.
UNIT TO MAKE ROOM FOR I/C & AIRBOX, NEW HOSES
AS REQ'D (BRACKETS HAVE BEEN MODIFIED)
TEST & RE-TUNE APEXi AS REQ'D TO COMPLY WITH
CALIFORNIA SMOG REGULATIONS & AFTER SMOG
DRIVEABILITY

And so many hours put as labor and tuning/setting. Now it boosts up more smoothly and runs with authority.

But California is one of the toughest SMOG-test enforced states and cops are all over this RX7. So I decided to sell it. Money I spent includes most of modifications of the car and money I paid (name). But I did not include $1500 in tax and registration and $160 in 3 Smog tests I took. The total money I spent is $27500 - $28000.
