Unhappy Is my motor gone?

Yesterday my engine was running on only one rotor after my exhaust made a poping noise like it blew flames. I had just pushed in the clutch to shift when it was at about 4500 rpm's and 3-4 pounds of boost. I did a compression check and my rear has no compression at all while the front is near perfect. None of the cycles has compression. Could my engine be so flooded that the apex seals can't seal properly. My dad had this problem with his first gen when the engine became flooded. It's just hard to believe that the whole rotor has no compression. Any ideas?

You can always try the de-flooding procedure but sounds like it's gone to me. Mileage and mods?

It's normal for a rotary to lose compression on one rotor...one seal breaks, pieces hit the next 2 and tear them up, along with the rotor and rotorhousing. The zero compression all around verifies this. Compression tests dont lie.

Thats usually the way rotaries die...shift gears and lose power. More often than not, it's not even when you're raising hell that it happens.

Sounds like yours is definitely gone.

Well my car has been running rich lately so i was thinking that my engine flooded to the point were the apex seals couldn't seal any more and they got stuck. It's been known to happen to a few rotory's. I just don't want to give up on the idea that my motor's still good. The motor made no funny noises or clanking sounds when i got it home and listened to it run.

It has 66500 on it with catback, mp, and dp and PFS PMS. Block off plates and simplified sequential also.

you can't really talk around 0 psi on all 3 rotor faces

Blown motors almost never make any odd noises, especially after the actual event, the spilt second when they lose power is when the damage occurs.

I guess people are used to piston motors that bang and smack when they throw a rod or a wristpin?

David, I hope the PMC is not to blame (if there is indeed a problem). Had you made any tweaks to any of the maps? What boost were you running, and had you been boosting hard before you lost compression?

If you haven't tried to restore compression using the un-flooding procedure, I'd definitely try that and hope for the best.

PM me if you have any questions on the PMC.
