My idle is scaring the crap out of me

Alright, i just put in new spark plugs and new wires and all seemed to be fine for a couple of days. Being Friday, i decided to come home from school for a little bit to help my mom out with some stuff (cutting the grass and what not). On my way back I got on the gas getting on the interstate and everything seemed fine but as soon as I started cruising it just felt wierd, like something was different and I couldn't pinpoint it. After getting off the interstate and rolling up to the light in neutral I saw my idle dipping to zero and up to 500 and just bouncing back and forth being real lumpy. I managed to get home while somehow keeping the car from stalling but the car is too hot to touch right now. Do any of you know what could have happened. The car was puffing dark smoke during the lumpy idle as well. My guess is that one of the leading spark plugs isn't firing due to the wire not being on tight enough and thus there being unburnt fuel which is causing the black smoke puffing out. It does feel like my car is running on only one rotor. Any help or comments are more than appreciated because I gotta get back to class tonight. Thanks in advance guys.

You might have accidently unplugged the hose from the MAP sensor...

If it's not that...it sounds like the water thermosensor is malfunctioning. Does it happen after the engine really warms up?

Wow, lucky me... It was the MAP Sensor vacuum line. I think that was by far the easiest problem I've ever fixed. Sorry to all of you who may have read this post due to me overlooking a simple error.
