My headlight cover is coming off...

The cover to the headlight assembly (that is, the painted "cover" that is the top of the headlight, the only part of the headlight assembly that is visible when the lights are down) is coming off. Apparently it has broken free from the plastic bracket inside of it that holds it to the headlight assembly. The piece that broke is the long plastic piece holding it to the assembly on the back side of the headlight, towards the driver.

Any ideas on how to fix this? It moves around a lot when Im driving and looks terrible since it is now no longer flush with the body.

I was going to superglue it down again (its just shitty plastic touching shitty plastic, where the glue would be) but that would be an extremely temporary fix that may not even hold.

I didn't realize they were so cheap. Do I need to get an entire new headlight cover, or just the bracket?

I'm worried about paint matching in that case.

which on is it and what color is your car? I just sold a P/S and a D/S one...I've got another CYM P/S that i'll be selling here shortly.

Just saw your new post. You'll have to get a whole new cover, you can't just buy the bracket..it's a one piece.

Ah. My car is black, its the driver side headlight. The paint job is only like a year old so hopefully it will match up pretty close.

Will that hold as a temporary fix?

That can be more than a temp fix. I also recommend to people have the stock pop-ups to reinforce their covers with something like this because they will eventually crack and fly off without some reinforcement.

I used PC-11 to fix mine. It's can fix a crack in a fiberglass boat hull and dries (sets) underwater. You might want to remove or check the other headlight cover while you are at it.

How time intensive is removing the headlight cover to do this, anyways?

Removing the cover is pretty easy. I would try JB weld, as Mahjik suggested. That stuff is very strong.

I also did mine with the plastic epoxy to keep it from flying off... the stuff is very easy to work with and very strong...I used it along the seam and I built up the bracket to keep it from flexing ... still holding strong...

Where can I purchase new headlight covers? All I can find is MazdaPartsCheap.com.

If it matters, I need a left one. I want to buy one tonight if possible, because this one is no longer usable. It's no longer usable because the patch fix that I made (to buy me time to get a new one) didn't hold and it's somewhere on Highway 1 outside Dover AFB right now.

I hate to bump, I know this is a minor question, but I need to buy one immediatly. I can't stand my car having a reverse-black eye. Is there any website I can order one of these from?
