My Girlfriend Doesnt Believe Me!!!

Okay guys...heres the story.

I found a 93 RX7 with 17k miles for sale down the road from me...

I had an 87 TII before and it was not very reliable...and my girlfriend didnt trust it...because it broke down when we needed it most...it was just in bad shape when i got it and i was never able to get it back up to par.

Anyways she doesnt want me to buy the 3rd gen cause she says she will never trust it. She said that if I could find someone who daily drives their 3rd gen and never has and problems with it then she wont mind me buying it...so come on guys i need HELP!!! ITS FOR THE SEVEN!!!

lemme know...and post pics too

-Matt

I daily drove mine when I was in the army for over three years and it was extremely reliable. back then it was making around 300 rwhp. Keep the power mods to a minimum and you'll be fine, especially with that kind of low mileage.

Most t2's are a bigger nightmare than all but the most ratted out FD.

There are people who daily drive their FD and never have problems with it.

There are also people who smoke three packs of cigarettes a day and live into their 90s.

Neither are exactly the norm.

a 93 w/ 17k miles is just as bad as a 93 with 170k miles.

unless it was in a highly regulated sealed enclosure.

sitting that long with no activity isnt good for any car.

Seriously. . . My FD is my daily but if saw the loot i drop to keep it pulling as hard as it does you'd weep. An FD isn't a car to own but a way of life

In otherwords . . . if you got the means, then of course, by all means . . . Buy It.

trust me...my FC was my life....thats probably part of the reason she doesnt want me getting another RX7...I love spending time in the garage with it and that means less time for her. She isnt buying it for me but she wont ride in it if she doesnt trust it so id rather she did...

I disagree. That would only be true the car were not taken care of. I would love to have an FD with only 17K.

I would say that an FD could be driven daily, be really shouldn't be. As a second car, you can't do much better.

If the girlfriend is telling you what car to buy now, imagine the hell she will put you thru if you marry her. Get the car. If the girlfriend makes an issue of it, tell her to hit the road.

Clean FD = panty dropper. Is your Impreza a WRX or STi? STi = panty dropper too. I would honestly NOT have an FD as a daily driver. I have an FC as a daily driver and when **** goes wrong, I wanna cry.

Your girlfriend could also be looking out for your best interests. Maybe she's telling you this because think of how it falls on her. She'd also have to deal with the **** that would come with the car being messed up. She might also not want to see you have to deal with the pain and financial burden the car might bring you.

thats true ^

I thought it was a great idea at first...I miss my RX7 really really bad...but maybe I shouldnt do it. Maybe i should just get through college with my subaru and try to find an FD later in life. I know ill own one eventually. I will never stop loving RX7's...maybe this isnt the right time after all...

who knows...who knows...

Doesn't she have her own car ?

If not, I wouldn't trust a FD as a daily driver unless it came from someone I personally knew and trusted in their car upkeep skills.

Ok, first off, she said she'll never trust it. Ok, who cares? Now if she is telling you that you can't by one, we'll I have a few suggestions there:

1. Do you have any *****? I'm sorry, but no relationship should have either side telling what can or can't be done. If you work and can pay for the car with your money, get what you want.

2. She's your girlfriend, not your wife.

If you need people here on the forum to "help" you get an FD, then you need to get a different car.

My girfriend is not deciding either way whether I get it or not. She just wanted to know if it would be okay for a DD...plus she does like spending time with me...

And...she never said I cant get it...she just said she probably wont trust it and I asked her if i got some people saying it would reliable would it help? she said yes...thats all i was here for...

i kinda wanted some reassurance too but being a college student and only being able to work part time might not work out okay if i want an FD...

its not that i need your help deciding if i want one...cause i have wanted another 7 since my first one left my driveway...but i need to know if it will be reliable enough to be a DD

LOL i guess we all know who wears the pants in the relationship.

Whichever way it works out dude, if you want the FD, get the FD. Dont try to "prove" to your gf that its reliable, it can do this, it can do that.

You cant expect the FD YOU'RE gonna buy to be as reliable as some of the people say about their FD's. You'll know once you buy it.

My advice. If you have the money and you really want it, go for it, regardless of what your gf says.

But as all FD owners, you SHOULD have a DD cause you will need it.
