If the exhaust really is "straight through" you'll want to get the wastegate ported or you could overboost & blow it. There's another plastic piece that goes above the airbox & intercooler. I can't tell if the AST is plastic or metal, if it's plastic you'll need to replace or eliminate it.

Welcome to the club!

The RX7 engine is notoriously temperamental so we have kept tuning to a minimum. The addition of a 3” straight through stainless steel exhaust is all we have done but what a difference it has made!
This is not good. What does minimum tuning mean? I didn't read any mention of boost control. A straight through exhaust with a stock ecu is asking for trouble. Clearly the car is more about show than go but get a boost gauge and make sure you're not exceeding stock levels by too much or you'll be in the shop for a rebuild.

best of luck, enjoy

I love seeing some old school body kits! Looks clean and 'different'. You don't see Veilside kits anymore... I remember that was the 'only' kit available for FDs for years!

minimum tuning in this case means "all show no go". You'll be fine if the only mod is an exhaust. I didn't take the time to read all the BS, but the underhood pic looks bone stock.

"all show no go" is gd enough for me lol at moment as im going from a 1.4 to this its fast enough. Im just worried now case i dmg anytihnhg due to straight through exhaust. It needs a tidy up inside, not bad tho. wat gauges do u recommend i get as im plannning on buying those as soon as i get it. cheers

Two turbo’s, a Veilside bodykit, 18” Split rims, a paint job that cost in excess of £3000 and you can win it all ….are we mental? Maybe! So here is the story of the Fast and Modified RX7.
LOL....wait...did you win this car or buy it?

The RX7 engine is notoriously temperamental so we have kept tuning to a minimum. The addition of a 3” straight through stainless steel exhaust is all we have done but what a difference it has made! The car burbles away and sounds as good as it looks.
that's the rx-7 saying, "boooooosttttt creeeepppppp!!!!"

Engine:
2.6 litre twin turbo rotary engine
Bailey Dump valve
wait....i thought it was a 1.3L....hence 13b.

ok remove the body kit & wing and go from there.

haha well theres a story behind this! basically this car magazine modified it for a prize to win. And basically it was won by a £1.50 txt message by some girl. Who couldn't even drive lol! So from 2005 it sat in her garage for about 1 year and a half. Then when she went to start it it had all ceased up. So a mechanic (my dads friend) had bought it of her for a very reasonable price and went about fixing it. He couldn't fix everything so it was ssent to a specialist just about a month ago and everytihng is running perfect. As u see it has had all those mods and new engine very recent and considering is been sitting in mechanics garage its not even been drove a lot. Anyway hes selling it now and my dad asked me if i was interested and ofc i said "Hell ye!" lol.

One of the unique things about 7's is how well they spool turbos. When you put a straight through exhaust on one it will overcome the wastegate and you won't be able to stop it from boosting.

A metal AST should cost you about $150 (dunno with shipping in £)
You can cover the squareish hole above the intercooler if you can't find the plastic.

2.6L? LOL
Take the wing and front bumper off.
How many miles are on it?
Looks stock under the hood, therefore you need: Downpipe, aluminum AST, boost gauge at least.

Address the boost control first. An aftermarket intake will only make the problem worse.

We've already discussed the exhaust (needs a cat), AST and the boost gauge. 2.6L is how they measure it over there. *shrugs*

Is this serious, or a joke? Why the hell would they measure it as 2.6?

1.3 liters but two times per rotation equals 2.6. I don't agree either and my old license plate was 1 liter.

Please leave the car sit until you learn something about it....start with the FAQ thread and the Archive section here. Then run a search for "reliability mods" and "boost creep".

Congrats on your new FD.

There are just so many things wrong with that car and the article. Good luck with your project.
