my first rx7 and need help!
This car is higher maintenece then most big chested blonde girlfriends, and the car costs more to keep around. Just take that in to consideration.
We dont mean to be a bunch of dicks but you should of thought about this before you bought the car.

There were less than 14,000 3rd gens made in America. Try being a newbie on an NSX forum or a Buick GN forum.
you also owned one of the worst production mustangs. The only late model mustangs worth owning if your keeping the factory motor, would be 85, 89-92, 99-04 and 05-06.

I guess you don't realize that the 4v engine was in the cars since 96'. And that being said, there is no need to get on this kids case for asking a question. Whatever though, I'll break it down really simple and then anyone who wants to can flame me to death. The rotary motor IS a cool motor but it is not reliable. Tune it all you want, and you will still be nervous about having to spend a rediculous amount of money on a rebuild. The rx7 is the only car I know of where people post reliability mods in their sigs.....that just goes to show you where the engine is at. That, coupled with the fact that the car is 13 years old and trying to get 400 hp every day is a bad idea!
This is why they have the swap! You want the looks of the seven and the power....get the swap. LS1 conversions are very popular these days and they work. Research it with an open mind and you'll see that you can have the power you want with reliability. All you need is an LS1 in there.

You can make 320 rwhp pretty reliably on these cars -- all the bolt-ons with a Power FC on a stock motor. This will be as fast as a 400 rwhp Mustang and almost as quick as a C5 Z06. While there are those few living on the lunatic fringe, an FD making 450 rwhp is not what I would call a fun to drive on the street kind of car. And calling it "reliable" is pretty tongue-in-cheek, IMO.
Spend some time reading the FAQ and archives and using the search function. There is a TON of info here. And lose the attitude. It won't get you anywhere but closed threads.

i just don't understand why people get this car for like 10k and think they were brilliant enough to have gotten the best deal ever, and the rest of the world is stupid.
"haha ! i got a fast rare and sexy machine, all for 10k ! i bet you guys didn't see this one coming; now where do i go to make this a 10 second car yo ?"
pleeeeease.
