dude if you want a 450 hp daily driver i hope you have a damn good job, an extra car and lots and lots of free time. get a downpipe, boost gauge maybe temp gauge. and check the FAQ, has all the reliability mods in detail. with 71k you might want to start thinking rebuild if you want gobs of power.

I'll get this one guys.

Check out the stickied FAQ at the top of this forum. It's a pretty comprehensive index, so it'll have tons of useful links. Also, start out with reliability mods before you think big horsepower numbers. There's a great reply by Jimlab in this post regarding upgrades (copy and paste it into your hard drive):

for a 400-450hp dd, I suggest you sell the R1 to me, and buy a Fox body Mustang for ~$3000 or a late model Camaro LS1 for ~$10,000.

Seriously, thats my recommendation. you will need VERY deep pockets to keep up with maintnence while doing serious mods. remember, 450rwhp is ~2x stock rwhp. Yes, I realize Fox Mustangs came with 230hp at the flywheel, but they are also more reliable and cheaper to mod. Also, a, LS1 or 302(or pretty much any smallblock V8) will put out way more torque than something as small as a rotary.

a 71 chevy vega can be fast without blowing up, you just have to have VERY deep pockets. especially for this car. see my first post in this thread for my reccomendation.

For the sake of not needing to explain to you what, why and how much $$ it takes to get a eys to your answer NO.

I don't think you realize what a 450rwhp Rx-7. First of all its definitively not streetable or it it is your a master driver who has an amazing chiropractor and psychologist.

Buy an FD shell and contact Hinson and never ask a question as dumb as your intial post again EVER please.

not to troll with something thast been beaten to death, but I am a fan of V8's, V6's, I4's, rotaries, hybrids, turbo's, n/a, sc's, nitrous. I love cars.

the point I was making is that 450rwhp is much cheaper and more realistic from a 5.0 with a HUGE aftermarket, or a 5.7 with a decent aftermarket than it is for a 1.3 rotary with a very limited aftermarket. Those motors have been around forever, there is a pleathora of help available, they actually make big tq numbers(which really matters), they are cheaper and much more reliable.

Dude, this is not like other car forums where you can drop one of these general questions and expect casual chit-chat and answers handed to you. The 3rd gen RX-7 is a 13 year old car, and thus, TONS of information has been compiled about it, and much, if not all, is here in this forum. You just have to be diligent enough to use the search function.

Questions like yours are posted on an everyday basis. It tends to annoy some of the members. Please use search for your own sake, so as not to be flamed.

Get a good boostt gauge so you know you have proper boost, then get your downpipe, and catback exhuast and cold air, then go for the power fc with commander and get the right map for all your mods..also get a aluminin ast and radiator and upgrade your intercooler and there you go ! youll have a daily street drivin car that will put it in alot of cars out their ***'s! just make sure your always doing maintenece to it and checkin up on her all the time!

look, kid. you asked a question. you got a responce. begging around to other forum members isn't going to help you. even if someone would chime in and lie to you and say "ya, sure $5,000 and you can have a reliable 450hp dd FD" you'll just be broke as hell and trying to sell a blown R1 with mods for probably half of what you paid for it.

If you really want relible 450hp, start with a rebuild(your motor has WAY too many miles), then get an APEXi Power FC with programmable key pad, 3" intercooler pipes, huge 3 or 4 core intercooler, single T78 turbo, full 3" exhaust, downpipe, midpipe, strip the interior, 4 or 5 dyno pulls atleast for tuning, boost gague(almost forgot that), probably ought to get a vented hood to let out excess heat, walbro 255lph feul pump, larger feul lines...

I think that might get you to the 450hp mark safely.

enjoy.

there are so many honda owners because honda makes more cars than america produces dollar bills.

There were less than 14,000 3rd gens made in America. Try being a newbie on an NSX forum or a Buick GN forum.

you also owned one of the worst production mustangs. The only late model mustangs worth owning if your keeping the factory motor, would be 85, 89-92, 99-04 and 05-06.

to answer your question barely any dd FD in here has more than 350hp and thats pushing it. realistically you can get away with a little over 300hp and still be DD but you will have to do a lot of reasearch on your part to see what gets you there
