my first rebuild ,a few?

I got the atkins video( I like it) now a few things I dont under stand? Is there a bare bones gasket kit for just the short block? from what I see I dont need all that comes in a kit? When installing rotors does it matter how they go in I was just thing about timming down the road. ?

Thanks

Atkins sells 5 different kits: kit a, kit b, kit c, master kit, and rotor kit. Usually you won't be able to tell what you need until you engine is tore down. Depending on what it will cost to piece together all the parts you need, it might be better just to buy the full kit, and try to sell what ever you have left over.

Also, I believe the rotors only go on one way. I am in the same boat as you, trying to figure out what all parts I need for my build. I just bought the aktins dvd a few weeks ago and have watched it a couple of times.

yeah there are tons of different kits...for instance if you coolant seal just blew and everything else is good you can just buy the soft seal kit.the rotors only go in one way it's pretty easy once you start to look at how things go together.

A bare bones rebuild would be a gasket kit and whatever seals you need. You can order a gasket kit, rotor kit, and oil control springs which will be a complete shortblock rebuild assuming your components are good, i.e. housings, irons, rotors, gears, and bearings. If your going through the trouble of a rebuild, might as well replace all the seals and springs. That was my logic anyways.....
