My friend (who has also posted in this thread) WILL be doing a 20b someday (right Charlie?). So in that case, this thread also has my attention.

Good luck with it and keep us updated!!

no one responded but fuel dilution (about 10%) is a ubiquitous problem with rotary engines, especially turbocharged rotaries, and the oil goes black pretty quick, within a few hundred miles

neofreak: yes i am putting lots of work into the car. but i dont think austin gave me much to appriciate.... the car is frankly a piece of crap if i must say so myself. there is literally something wrong with EVERY PIECE in that car. i thought this was just a good car w/ a bad engine fire, (thats waht austin told me) but apparantly we have drastically different views about what is a "good" car. basically i have had to buy a new one of everything (besides the shell) for that car. even the gas tank is patched. if i knew this car was the piece of **** that it was, i never would have bought it. in anycase, im determined to rectify all the horrible things which have happend to this car (be it by the hands of austin or the previous owner). i hate having to go back and fix others mistakes that were caused by lack of mechanical skills. im not saying im a good mechanic (far from it) but when i do something to a car i dont do it half assed. basically, what i want is for the next person that owns this car to think "wow, this car has been well maintained... obviously the previous owner loved it"

well i thought id take some pictures of the DP/coolant tube problem... i havent decided how to remedy it yet. i suppose i'll either weld some new piping together from scratch, or just add and extension tube to the existing piping.

stock twins to start... once im ready to go all out, a large single ball bearing should be in the cards.... that or having the twins heavily modified by BNR, but its all up in the air as of now.

hey how's the car runing? ok, yeah if you have any pictures of the coolant lines that you bent it would be absolutely awsome to see what you did. i cant see a way to do it with the curent lines, there just doesnt seem to be enough "slack" to be able to make the stock lines work. maybe if they squeeze in back of the DP, but its an extreemly tight squeeze, and will be literally on top of the glowing red DP!!

BTW IronMdnX, what DP are you using? coustom? pettit? alamo? thanks alot -heath

hey everyone... well now that summer is slowly approaching i'm gearing up to resume working on the FD. i now finally have a hood (which does not fit flush by the winshield because the hinges seem to be bent). also now that the chassis is almost completely stripped im discovering all the problems with it.

first of all, water is still leaking into the interior (or lack of now). i have a new seal for the hatch (need ones for the doors and sunroof as well) but i have a feeling water is getting in by other routes than the seals. i am ending up with water on the passenger side floor, as well as a significant amount in the spare tire well.

another problem that i am noticing is damage to the chassis. (ill take pictures in a few days).... but it seems as the car was hit hard on the rear drivres side. i can see where a new pannel was molded into the existing pannel and it doesnt line up well. the hatch sitshigher than the rear fender, as well as the door pannel being higher than the rear fender. im wondering if there is a way to fix this problem as im pretty sure the hatch and door are not the culpret.

im also worried about the structural integrity of the chassis as ive noticed some disturbing things inside of the car. there are 2 braces that go between the door and the transmission tunnel (on on each side of the car...pass & driver) which seem to be bent! i have a feeling this chassis was really tweaked when it was hit so im worried about putting a bunch of money into a car which is either not structurally safe or bent out of spec which would cause abnormal wear on suspension and drivetrain components. ill post pics as soon as i can.

any thoughts on leak preventinon, and assesing the shape of this chassis would be much appreciated, as i wont go any further with this project if the chassis is no good. -heath

Everything can be fixed, it is just a $$ issue. FD rear clips should be relatively easy to find since they all get wrecked in the rear.

Take some pics, post them up and we can go from there. 1/4 panel skins being replaced isn't really that big of deal someone probably didn't spend the time to get it lined up correctly. For the structure of the car to be screwed up it has to be more than cosmetically challenged.
