Good Questions and replies . But i think the turbo is abit to big . Sure you may be about to play with trim and A/R . You can only go so far . Drifting has more a torque and peaky power requirement . I would rather go up a size on the turbo is it is too small than go down a size ..hehe.. kinda like breasts yeah
All in all , this is your BBQ and i am just here the burgers . Remember to give us update on the progress ... may be some drift vids or pics :burnout: ...

From what I gather, drifting is all about destroying tires. You'll be buying TONS of tires. For this reason, I would really recommend AGAINST using 19" wheels. The tires are much more expensive, and there aren't many quality tires made in 19" diameter.

Look into the tire size that you want to be using (base this both on price and performance, this will vary depending on your location), and choose your wheel size based on that. For drifting, wide wheels seem to be the thing. I don't understand the physics well enough to explain it, but if your tires are 9" wide at the widest point, you want wheels that are slightly wider. It's got to do with the deflection of the sidewalls (or lack thereof due to the super wide wheels).

From what I understand, the extra wide wheels are not just a style thing. Try it and you should be able to feel the difference.

Another thing; for the instant throttle response and huge amount of torque you need, I would seriously look into a V8 conversion.

sounds like a wish list of parts and bunch of big name pieces- no offense- but i'm in the middle of rebuilding my so called "drift" car and i'm already in the hole 10's of thousands...going through different suspension setups like crazy and tires- the t78 is much more of a topend turbo, great for drag- useless for drift- you're sacrificing too much lag, even with good management you're really not using the turbo to it's potential as you would a smaller turbo- went with turbonetics T62-1 custom setup for midrange power and that seems to work very well. before you start messing with the aesthetics, deal with your engine first and get it tuned in to where it should be. There's a lot great forums out there like drifting.com and others that will give you some great reading material. I've drift/drag...abused the crap out of my car and I'm still learning... but then again...we're all still learning about our car! Good luck!

Thanks again for your comments. The part list isn't a wish list, it has been agreed with our supliers that those are roughly the parts to be used.

I'm seriously concidering to take a smaller turbo, but I might test that one and then change to smaller if it won't work.

And for the wheels I know the price for tyres pretty well since I'm selling them allready. The price for market value isn't too bad with those. But as I said, I might concider using smaller wheels on the track and those wheels only in shows and on the street.

Drifting.com does have some good persons there, but roughly 50% there doesn't have car or drivers licence and most of the other 50% haven't been drifting EVER. If you have some minor wheelspin on a steer corner, it just won't make a drifter out of you!

I really do understand that some of you think me as a dreamer, but because the car should be "suprise" on it's first show, I cannot give you any details. But that day will come too, sooner or later

Here is a little update. I bought new appartment in the end of january, so this car project have proceeded bit slowly. But now the removal is done and I can get focused to this project again.

How ever some progress have happened. The car is almost ready for taking of the engine and transmission and then I can get it painted and start assembling new parts. Bodykit should also be here in start of april.

I've got those wheels this week and tested them under the car. They will fit perfect and they really are one of the sweetest wheels I have seen Surprise for me is that they aren't so heavy that could be expected. Front wheels (19*9") weights some 10kg and rear wheels (19*10") weights some 11kg.

I understand that you got the 19's for show reasons, but when I see a "drift" car with a system in it, with 20's slapped on it for a show, the first thing that comes to mind is *rice*. If it's a drift car, take it to the show as a drift car, not some blinged up car that its not. Anywho, it's your car, so do what you wan't. It seems like its going to look pretty nice once your done.

All you guys that think the T78 is dead on the low end should talk to Vosko. At very low boost (12-14psi) he could hardly control his car at drift events. MORE than enough low end power.

How often do you see cars "drifting" at sub-4K rpms? When does the T78 really light up? You guys seem to be forgetting about the usefulness of the RPMs.. A T78 is fine. As is a TO4R..

Again - ask Vosko and maybe even watch some of his videos.

Screw the little turbos that spool at 2K. Get a big one and rev the car like it's meant to rev..

This is just what have I been meaning. I have those power curves of T78 and T88 on FD3S and it is very smooth curve from 4k to 8k. And you really should be able to keep your rpm in 4k rpm area at any time. Those cars are also with very low boost like 0,8-0,9bar.
