my fd project continues....

Well, after finally getting the new engine, a larger streetport done, the t62-1 custom single kit built, resonated midpipe, 3.5 inch downpipe upgrade, and the greddy titanium exhaust (yum! the greddy sounds so good) and some other goodies, I found out that my act street strip clutch wont hold the power that the single turbo is putting down.

I sent the car back up to gotham racing (the act ignition system failed due to a bad batch from the company and had to be replaced) and installed a new ACT extreme clutch. The car is pretty much finished now. We expect to dyno this week.

I am shooting for 420-430 to the wheels at 16psi.

I will post the sheets as soon as we are done.

so close...I am excited to finally finish the project. All that is left is paint, rims, and some interior cleanup (refurbishing the seats). Hopefully I will get that done this winter.

If I have my way, I will be at the track the weekend after this to pick up some timeslips. woo hoo!

Sounds good!

3.5"dp, that's a big puppy! You know the so called S/S clutch normally comes with a stock disc and not a strip disc. You have to specifically ask for either the modified disc or the strip disc with either the heady duty PP or the extreme PP. That may have made the difference. I'd hate to have more pedal pressure. How much more effort is it?

Why not get Mazdaspeed seats instead of refurbishing your stock seats? I drove my car this weekend and i've put down 300mi "woohoo"!

ill have to search for the mazda speed seats....i like the leather though...no cloth for me.

the act is firm but not much past stock on the street strip..it grabs nicely....i think my issue was less to do with the disk than with the amount of miles on the plate. I dont mind a firm clutch as I can feel what it is up to...fortunately Im not doing daily driving in the car anymore.

goracer: what did you get done to your car? whats your mod list? did you get that motor all heat protected and such like you were talking about? curious man...let me know whats up.

yeah..will post sheets as soon as I have them done.

wingsfan and I are going to hit the track on the first weekend of oct. he has a nice fd with an LS1 in it (he just bought a big *** turbo for it ) haha....my work is cut out for me.....

I wouldn't mind the cloth but I don't know if i'd get whit or black seats. If I was to do leather then I would mix black & blue like the anniversary Miata.

Here's some ideas on seat covers:

Here's some pics of Mazdaspeed sport seats:

I still have more work to do but i'm stoked it's drivable. I installed an Apexi FMIC (custom rad' mounted at an angle), dual Mocal oil coolers with titanium hard lines holding thermostat and in between coolers and reused oem hard line coupled to SS braided. The titanium toe links are being made now. Titanium strut bar to be made later. Large street port but smoothed to 45 dregrees instead of harsh 90 degree (prolly equal to small but smoother response). Ehause manifold, down pipe 2k heat coated along with all heat shields (haven't been able to port and heat coat turbos "yet". PFC with oem bracket mounted (holes drilled and tapped for it). Reolocated optima (in progress). Border Racing exhaust (too loud for me even though it's deep), will switch to buddy club later on. ACT S/S, B&M replica, ouch how much money have I spent allready ...brain freeze!
