My FD has been a great car -- 1 year checkin
I got my FD on 4/10/04. Since then, I have put about 6000 miles on it.
Number of times left stranded: 0
Number of unexpected problems: 1 (alternator had to be replaced)
Number of times I scared myself with this car: many ... it is an incredible car. The acceleration is phenominal, awesome brakes, sticks to the road like nothing else I've ever driven
Number of times I've thought about selling it: 0
I bought my FD from a used car dealer with little known about the history of it. Risky. He agreed to have it looked over by a local specialist (Rick's Rotary). The inspection revealed that the engine was a recently replaced remain with outstanding compression. The turbos were in good shape. Carfax was clean, body was good, interior was excellent. I bought it for 15k.
The first 2 months of ownership were tough. The car basically sat on jack stands while I went over every part of it. Since the mechanical history was largely unknown, I had to assume that it needed everything.
I performed the "Super Overhaul" (see sig) in addition to the standard reliability mods (upgraded radiator, fan mod, downpipe, gauges, silicon hose job, check valves, boost controller, fuel filter, etc).
I am much more aware of watching the gauges and listening to things when I drive this car, but by no means am I paranoid.
Every time I drive this car, I get compliments on it. My wife sometimes complains about it being a garage queen, but she does not deny that feels "very cool" riding around in it.
In short, the FD is a great car and it CAN be a reliable car if you take care of it.

My girl is the same way she loves it when we go out for a ride with it even though the car screams with the wastegate open to the atmosphere, I was shocked when she did'nt mind the sound since she is older than me and is not a fan of cars. She just does not like it when I take corners fast.
