my experience with the local PCA chapter @ mission raceway (with couple of pics)

well usually the porsche club doesnt allow any cars but porsches to attend their events but they were short of ppl this time and i got a chance to go with them :o

i got placed with the advanced group since i've had quite a bit of track time @ mission raceway (in british columbia canada) however, i wasnt ready for this! in my group included 3 GT3s, 2 993 turbos, 3 996 turbos (one having 600hp), and a pretty sweet 1973 911RS! all of them were running r compounds! needless to say, i was the slowest amongst them. however, i did find myself faster than a few of the other (older) porsches both through the corners and the straight! .. i guess i need a lot more track time

overall, very happy with the car. it was my first time running my new tire setup - 18x8.5,9.5 TE37s with 225/40 and 285/30 A048s.. yes i've heard that it'd totally plow but honestly i kinda preferred this setup to my 245/45 a032s all around on the stockers. grip is much higher, but there was a balance trade off - which i had to work around.. i think i'll probably be wanting to use the 18s for street and try to sell the stockers to get some 17x9s..

oh well, that wont be for awhile..

anyhow, here's the pics, taken by jeff grant - a local PCA member:

the red porsche in the few pics with me is my dad - never realized how much faster he is :o he was on michelin pilot sport cups..

i'll be doing seattle this coming monday for the first time, looking forward to that, hopefully can get some pics

thanks for reading

I do events with the San Diego Chapter of the PCA. It's a fun group and they're always happy to have me. I'm leaving tomorrow for three days at Spring Mountain Raceway in Pahrump Nevada. This will be my third year in a rowing doing that event. The first year I was in the top 10 (7th overall out of 50 cars) but last year the competition was faster and I didn't make top 10. I have a better suspension setup this year so we'll see how it goes.
