is my differential done?

I have a 94 rx7 and it started making clunking noises from the rear of the car while I was turning. It is really loud, like something fell off my car. How do i test the diff? and how should I fix it? should i just swap a new one in?

thanks

More then likely it's the toe links or trailing arms. Turning should have no effect on the rear suspension. Other possibilities could be a bad diff mount or broken power plant frame.

I checked the rear suspension, and there was only a little bit of play with the bushings... not enough to make the same clunk that I hear. I replaced the diff mounts and ppf about a year ago. The reason I thought it was the diff is because when I am turning, the wheels are turning at different speeds, so maybe something is loose in the differential and it is getting locked up (that's what it sounds like). It feels like a spring is poping off somewhere.... hmm... maybe one of my rear springs isnt seated properly, but I doubt it.
