Smile My cousin just got his RX7! Need some help!

Hey whats going on guys. Im new to the board just wanted to say whats up. My cousin and I have been looking for a 93+ rx7 for him for a while now, and today we are picking one up after the long months of searching. He is very happy and exited to get the car. Worked real hard to get the money and now he has his dream car.

Well I was just going to try and get some feedback from you guys who have had more experience with the car. We know a decent amount about the rotary motor but we don’t know enough and we don’t know the things to look out for. I had the owner work out a deal before we pick it up later today and the deal was he would let me take the rx7 to my shop that I trust to make sure everything is in place. I did and everything was fine with the car, it was losing boost and power at high end and we found out it was a lose vacuum line that was an easy fix. The car is bone stock just the way we wanted it and the body has never been hit or in an accident.

The motor and rotors I heard you have to change every 60K I believe. Correct me if im wrong? And please feel free to make me look like a noob because this car is nothing like the other cars I have owned! hehe (celica 2zzge, mr2 turbo 3sgte) but i am a mazda fan! Thanks for all the help guys. Take care.

No not quite that bad, unless you do something stupid. You should get 90-110k Mi out of a motor.

Replacement can run $4-5k if you have it done, $1-2k less if you get a re-man, and put it in yourself. And Possibly $1-2k if you rebuild it yourself...

There are a lot of usefull threads on here, do a search, there's been Years and Years of Know How, that's piled up here. Very little has not been explored by someone on this forum.
