My car is idling rough, I'm still at work! Help me out here!!

Ok I searched! So I do have a somewhat idea on what it might be. But first I wanna tell you guys what happened.

Its about 72 degrees outside. I'm on lunch break and decide to get gas. I put Protek-R inside and fill'er up. I'm driving/ cruising for a while and decide to go WOT, and I shift about 5-6k I guess.

Well suddenlly as I get off the freeway back to work, my car begins to idle really rough. The stock oil gauge is bouncing as well. The car almost stalls, but doesnt.

At this point I'm freaking out. As I park the car I'm letting it idle and I pop the hood. But hey, I don't know much so I can't tell whats going on. Everything looks fine to me. As I go around the car I see black smoke coming out of the exhaust.

Again I'm freaking out as of right now. I searched came up w/ some guesses. I might have blown a vac hose off the MAP sensor or something like that. If this is the case tell me what to do, cause I don't know where the MAP is.

Or. I did that fan mod where you pull out your A/C fuse and turn on the A/C to keep the fans running. But I read that the same fuse is for the air pump as well. And since the fuse is gone, theres no air going to the main cat.

Those are the only two guesses I've done right now. Since because I pulled the fuse. And I jut put in gas and went WOT.

Can someone please please tell me whats up. I'm sitting here at work going nuckin' futs!

As you post, if you put up suggestions I'll be walking outside doing them as well. Whatever! Help me out here! Thanks.

Sounds like the MAP sensor. Look up on the firewall on the drivers side. You'll see a small box labeled "Boost Sensor", that's it. Make sure the hose is attached to it and runs to the UIM.

Phew! I love a fast response. I just got back from my car looking for the MAP....I was looking on the passenger side . Sorry. But I'm going to go out right now and check the MAP sensor to make sure its connected. Can you give me a visual of what hose to look for or will it be obvious?

Thanks Mahjik. And to anyone else, gimmie some help! Seriously! I'm off at 4! Hehe thanks.

OMG! Its the MAP! I check it and theres this little 1in. hose just hanging from it (I know its common, but for a newbie its new).

So what do I look for now, my hoods up and the I'm looking at that little hose. But wheres the other end? And where do I connect it?

Hurry people. Two more hours before I'm off work!

Find the other end of the hose and reconnect it. It should around there somewhere by the throttle body. Just look and feel around. After connecting it, disconnect the negative terminal on the battery and depress the brake pedal for 20sec. - 1min. to reset the codes on the ECU.
