full disclosure... I am biased toward Montego Blue because it is the color of the FD I drive and work on the most (the one I use for all my FD testing). My buddy has had this one since 1997.

Excellent write and OUTSTANDING paint work! That is easily one of the top two MBMs I've seen on the Forum.

I love my Montego Blue Mica (the proper name) and get comments on it all the time, a lot of folk think it is some form of Kameleon or ChromaLusion paint...and this is on a 18 year old car that has time against it!

Got a quote a while back to have it repainted....$6,200 seemed a bit steep.....sigh.

Damn that paint job looks amazing! Who painted your car if you don't mind me asking and where are they located?

That's one serious compliment! I appriciate the kind words....$6,200 is a bit steep (but not far off the mark!) for an all over paint job done correctly....(stripped, not a respray)

Thanks man, Edwards Bodyshop in Rock Hill, SC did the work....A personal friend/ex coworker is the new owner...

Still haven't managed to get the headlight covers on. but I did grab a couple quick cell phone pics when the sun hit her the other day, and she caught my eye.....wish they'd turned out better....

I've actually got a line on an (gasp) affordable t56 trans, so I may have a better update soon....thanks for looking guys.

I remember you from the Club Lexus Forums when you got this car.
I also remember that thread was full of naysayers saying to do a LS swap. Man those guys were so biased against the rotary motor.

Well the car looks great and it's nice to see you on here.

Well, since the OP said it was okay....here's some pics of my old MBM '93 that had a fresh coat on it. Looked brand spanking new when I bought it.

I really did fall in love with how it was that nice "hunter green" pearl color in direct sunlight, but a nice and subtle mid-range blue color in the shade, and dark enough to even be mistaken for black at night. With that said though...I don't think I'd own another one ever again, though.

I'm just a Black and White kinda guy, now. :P

Sorry to hear about the hail. I get my ride back soon and I cannot imagine this happening to my freshly painted and PDR'd FD. My cousin's Infiniti got pelted last summer during a freak hailstorm. He said it was a minute and a half of pain.....completely helpless with no overpass in sight. It seemed to last forever as everyone just stopped on the freeways. I saw the damage before and after PDR. Insurance picked up the $2500 tab and they did an amazing job! Couldn't tell a difference. Hopefully, that's encouraging.

Nice FD man... I like the color. My 135i got it last summer too before I sold it. Golfball sized. 2 months in the body shop... Really sucks.

Hey man would you mind telling me where I could get some of those carbon headlight covers?

OMG what a small world Yoshi I own your old car now.. I recognized that crooked rx-7 logo and the wheels... then I went and found pics the last owner gave me with the car and they are some of the exact ones you just posted... I am actually re-painting it this weekend I was inspired by this thread... have the car all sanded down, dings filled, and the paint is in the basement...

OP That really sucks about the hail right out of the shop!! and such a thorough job too.. I feel for you man.

I've seen plenty of bad hail storms in the mid west......NEVER here...it's usually just pea sized stuff...

It is, and I spent some time at the body shop today, watching a subcontracted PDR guy doing his thing...those guys are magicians!

Sucks about your BMW man...definatly feeling your pain at the moment...lol The headlight covers are made by Shine, and I bought them through psiparts.....turned out to be complete junk, no where close to fitting right, and the owner of psiparts wont return my emails. let alone my money.....psiparts is apparently one of those one man shows, run by some dude out of his house...screw them.
