Muffler Temps

I know that EGT's are anywhere between 1200-1700F+ depending on where the sensor is located. I was wondering does the EGT decrease by much by the time it reaches the muffler? Trying to decide if 1400 degree paint will hold up on the muffler, thanks guys.

Yes, your exhaust gas temperatures decrease by the time it gets to the muffler. By how much I don't know.

Why not get your muffler polished?

If you truly want your muffler to be painted but you want to see if the paint will hold, paint a small part of the underside of the muffler and see if it holds up after a few runs.
