MSD 6AL and DIS2?

Hi I was hoping to get some feed back on a possible ignition set up for my FD. My motor is a 3mm, large street port running a T04s set up. Fuel will be stock balanced 850ccs primary and 1600ccs secondarys or possibly 1300cc secondarys. Will a MSD 6AL and a MSD DIS2 setup work well with my setup? Any draw backs? From what I found so far I concluded that it would work good at high boot applications (14#s and up) but what about low boost say 12#s. Is this set up any safer then the Jacobs set up? Any opinions or input would be great..Thanks...Tony

i have done that and its overkill , no need for the ignition boost, ive ran 550 prime and 1600cc secondaries ,20psi pump gas , no need for aftermarket ign

a bigger spark will always allow more power. . . thats proven. . . bigger spark means more fuel can be burned. . . dont waste the money on two boxes. . . get the aem box from www.rx7store.net

paul

okay, just reread your post. . . if youre staying around 12lbs. . . dont bother really. youre not gonna benefit much from it. . . but if you turn up the boost. . . as you should with that nice t04s. . . then get the aem box.

Well I do plan on turning up the boost to about 18#s for high boost and 12 #s for low boost. But I'm worried about blowing my motor with this setup. Is this set up gonna be safer then running the Jacobs ignition? Thanks....Tony

The way mine is currently setup, you just plug in the harnesses *5 minutes* and its presetup jumpers and the dis-2 programed by pettit.. I ran it on my car with no problems.. burned much cleaner.. When running excessive boost it was a must..

the aem box is smaller. . . thats why its better. the jacobs box WILL kill your leading coil. all it controls is the leading coil at that. the aem box as well as the hks box control the leading and trailing.

I run a single MSD 6a on the leading coil. Thats all you need, dont worry about trying to amp the trailing coils they are pleanty stong enough to get the job done cause they only combust a small amount of the mixture. The leading fires first and combusts a large portion of the mixture.

I know people that have ran 600+rwhp with a single MSD6a on the leading that you can buy for $120.

well, hes talking about amplifying all coils. . . thats why i said get the aem box. some people like it that way. maybe hes running 0 split. i could see the benefit of big spark all the way around if you were doing that. wait. . . i could see the benefit of more spark if you had split. the combustion chamber on a rotary pretty much sucks. . . we know that. it has waste spark for a reason. making that wasted spark bigger can only help. i say go for it.
