Motor just poped what would you do?

Well my reman just went bye bye. It only had about 20k on it too. Well now Ive got to figure out what to do, rebuild this one and have it ported or just buy another reman and have it ported @ KD Rotary. Im looking to spend around 2500 - 3500. Let me know what you guys would do in my position. I am doing all the labor myself as I did the last one.

Thanx
Jeremy

^^ I agree. Take it apart yourself or have KD rotary do it and see what you/they can salvage. And yeah streetport that sucker. I would not buy a reman to just port it. Just build it from the ground up. Way more cost effective.

What's the deal with the reman engines? It seems that it's a hit or miss with those.

First thing don't buy and install another Mazda Reman... j/k not all Remans are bad. It's a crap shoot.

Find a reputable rotary specialist and have them tear down, rebuild your engine. I'd try to have on shop do ALL the work. Hopefully, they will stand behind their work with some sorf of warranty. That way if something goes wrong, you can hold someone responsible.

If you have the funds, have your motor street ported and have the ccolant seals upgraded(to silicone, I think). But you will then need a PFC, tuning, 1300cc secondaries, ect.

why would it go after 20k? Did you change anything from one drive to the next when it blew? Check that fuel filter and clean the injectors and if your car was tuned by someone don't go there again

Ok, well I would like to tear it apart and know what is wrong but really dont have the time or the place to do it.

I have the PFC and the 1300's already and im pretty sure than the coolant seals and the porting is going to get done one way or another. I just was thinking the safest and best thing to do whould be to just use mine as a core and get another reman and send it straight to KD have it ported and put back together there and upgrades done by them at the same time.

As far as doing anything different then before, no I havent changed anything on the car in about 10k. I just did a WOT run in one gear and it let out a black/gray cloud and then bam the note on the engine changed all the sudden and it tried to die on me when shifted. Then came to a red light and it was idleing like total ****.

tear it down, drop the irons off at rick engman's for a clean up port job and lapping...get a new rotor (probably need a new one), take your counter weights and rotors to rick for balancing (I believe you have a lighten FW)...oh yeah, and leave him with your e-shaft, you won't be disappointed.

pick up parts and send to a builder...or have rick build, but lead time will be long and the options he'll give you, you'll want to spend more than $3500.

Hell, you will spend $500+ for a new housing and rotor. I'd give the other $3000 to Rick and say, "I need a running engine, can you work with this?"

Yeah, I should just let Rick do his magic on it then get it tuned right after install. Now I just need to tear it down and see what kind of mess it made. I hope its not too bad. Well looks like its time to start looking for housings and rotors.

Thanx Guys

I would kill myself. I can't believe it only lasted 20,000 miles. That is terrible. I couldn't swallow paying for another one if that happened. Can you say money pit. I would kill the car. It sounds like the remans are shitty, and don't last very long. I would go with a fully built engine and go all out on add ons and internals. Make sure its gonna last most important.
