Motor install question

I swear this has been covered, but I can't find the threads I'm looking for.

Basically, I will be putting my motor in soon, and I have left the tranny in the car. No, I'm not going to pull the tranny, I'm going to install the motor with the tranny in still in place.

I've heard some people say that it can be a fight, and I can't find any threads with tips and whatnot to getting it in with as little pain as possible, I thought there was a tiny little writeup with tips but I could be wrong.

Would removing the motor mounts and arms help with getting the eshaft lined up and then just bolt them back on from under the car before lowering it the last couple inches if I jacked the tranny up a few inches to compensate for the height difference?

Also, I'd like install it with the down pipe on, so I removed the heat shield on the ABS to give me a little more room. Anthing else that might help?

I have all hoists, levelers, etc to do the job, just seeking a little advice as to what angle I should attack from.
