which motor?

doing a streetport on my motor. working with a limitedbudget. question is, should i tear mine down and build it w/new rtr housings and rebuild kit or should i get a reman and tear it down to port it? i was reading a thread about some company that laps the side housings over and over again and produces a depth issue with the coolant seals' groove and know that my motor is the original with 67K miles. there should be no problem with having them lapped. except where to do it. someone told me there might be a place in arkansas that laps, but he doesn't remember who/where. does anyone out there? i am looking at the cost issue OVERALL. my friend works at mazda, so i willl get his pricing on everything. i'm just adding up a rebuild kit/gasket set/rotor housings and side housing lapping comapred to a reman and gasket set. what to do? are the reman's relatively worth what they claim in regards to clearancing and tolerances? or should i be sure b/c i did it. and btw, YES i've built/ported motors before.
