A stray thought...

Most of the time when rolling around, I don't need most of the power being supplied by the turbos, I generally keep the Profec B turned off - which in theory keeps my boost down to 5-7 pounds. I don't miss those extra 3-5 pounds.

I wonder if it would be advantageous to be able to run 90% of the time on only 0-2 pounds of boost.

I wonder if doing this will increase the nominal lifespan of the engine?

I know I could effectively do this by not pressing the go pedal as hard, but there are times when I do want to go half-to-full throttle, but still don't really need the extra power supplied by the turbos.

Any thoughts on limiting the boost?

And if you accept this premise that power can harmlessly be reduced, then the next question would be is there any way - using the Profec to tune it to lower the boost to 0 pounds and then increase back to normal when desired by turning the profec back on?

My desire is to use a [keyed] center switch on my tunnel console to be on/off (boost or no boost [my primary reason for this is that I DO occasionally turn the car over to a valet and having the Profec turned off is desireable]) and to use the profec hi/low switch to flip between five to seven pounds (minimum) and 10-12 pounds (maximum) would be great.

Taking this premise a little further...

When in high boost mode, I would also like have a water injection system auto turn on and of course turn itself off when boost is again set back. I'm thinking this would be fairly easy to set up.

Any thoughts?

The lowest boost you can run is whatever the wastegate spring pressure is.

For example, my wastegate spring is like 14lbs. That means that I will ALWAYS run a minimum of 13.5-14lbs when I get on it, I'll never be able to run lower than that (even if I completely remove my Profec-B Spec II) unless I change out my wastegate spring.

The only way to run less boost than your wastegate spring is set to is by utilizing your right-foot boost controller.

You could possibly modify a second waste gate that had a lower poundage spring for when you wanted to cruse around but could be locked shut via a solenoid valve for when you want to go hard for full boost. You'll need to modify the manifold too ofcourse.
Just a thought.

and the engine will always generate more heat from the extra work it has to do to spin the turbos. there really isn't a workaround besides have a non turbo car and a turbo car.
