Then quit wasting your time and talk to your builder. You PAID them to do the motor, it should be right. I don't understand why people don't go back to the "source"....

It could be something as simple as a bad o2 sensor, if there's a problem at all. You should be able to discuss the issue with your builder over the phone and at the least narrow down the troubleshooting list.

As far as helping yourself, have you gone through the troubleshooting section of Section F of the FSM?

have you checked your tps?

my FC one would lose about 2-3mpg if it wasn't adjusted correctly.

Did you change your oil at 500miles? Oil changes help a bit.

check air filter?

Cats?

sparkplug wires?

What type of rebuild? Which seals. Used housing take a bit to break in.
Low compression = naughty gas milage

Did you have any porting done?

Were the injectors cleaned?

Basically there is a mess of things that can do this.

call the source and ask or just start digging.

The thing is that everyone can 'guess' at the problem but it won't do any good unless someone is actually taking a look at things to eliminate possible problem areas. Just simply asking "what about this" and "what about that" isn't going to get the problem investigated.

Someone is going to have to take a wrench to the car and start testing some things whether it's you or the shop who did the work. As I said earlier, you should take it to the shop so they can't say you caused the problem and end up costing you more money in the end.

Call them on the phone and explain to them what is happening. They might say bring it in or they might tell you what to check. The difference is that if they tell you to do something and it causes a problem, they are still at fault (with the original work). If you go and start tinkering, you might end up releasing them from any more responsibility of the work they have already performed (unless you don't care).

If it were me and I spent money to have all that stuff installed; I'd make damn sure they did their job correctly and completely. They would be getting bugged every darn day until my car acted like it should.
