Mods to beat a LS1 Trans Am?

A stock FD vs a ls1 T/A. The FD is going to take a slight whooping. I raced a 2001 WS6 T/A the other day on the highway. As I could see he had exhuast. We punched it from a 50 mph he jumped in front of me I had to slow down to keep from hitting him so I knew I was pulling on him a little. But this thing never ran out of breath all up to 140mph I only had a car maybe a car and a half. This really suprsised me. I thought that we would just be even, even him pulling on me. The ls1's are nothing to laugh at. They can clock low 13's even some into a very high 12. That vs a stock FD of lets say 13.7. Your going to need mods to beat a ls1.

finally another member who ain't afraid to give'em props. i love that metallic rusty-bronze color......beautiful, and fast. i will say though, they are best for cruising & straight-line runs. not cornering.....unless well equipped...

I guess the difference was in my shifting.
BTW, those firebirds are quite the machine on the straight line, but I have a little bit of contact with people who have raced them competitively, and if you want to have any handling performance out of them... you better just strip it down and start from the bare body. They do lay quite the strip though haha.

well good now i dont feel as bad about not being able to pull him that hard. he raced a guy with a ss camero 2000 and whopped him last nite so i dont know what he has done to the ws6. i guess its the 4.10 and computer.

Lets get something straight, all 13brew's run different due to mileage (compression) and maintinance and there are some freak LS1's out there too.
The first week I had my car it had 6k miles on the motor and I ran 2 stock WS6 LS1 TA's on the highway, I put a length on one of them and the other hung right with me.
Stock vs stock I would say they have an edge but if the rotary would have the same milage as the LS1, it would be real close.

That car for your avatar kinda looks like the one a friend of mine got the other day. He traded his S2K for it. Supposedly it puts down around 400 to the ground. Haven't raced yet but if it's true, he'll slaughter me.
