I was gonna say... if he made 374 whp without a PFC or other standalone, he's the luckiest person on this board.

Good looking SSM touring man, always like the color. I can't wait to drive my BB again, it hasn't left the garage since November, we're going for a new record for longest time with snow on the ground, and we haven't even had as much snow as you guys out east have.

Yeah, one thing rotaries certainly are not is dummyproof. If mazda had put something other than a rotary in the fd then there would be a heckuva lot more of them on the road today.

But there would be a heckuva alot more idiots driving them. I like things just how they are

I ended up using both because I bought the pettit one before I had made an intercooler selection and then when I ordered my intercooler it didn't cost any more for the greddy flange and I had one left over from my DSM. I didn't really need both but since I had them I used the pettit on the secondary turbo. Not too sure if it would have ever done anything since those turbos seals leaked during break in and I ended up with a GT3582R. The factory set up just has one for each turbo and as for the sound being off and sometimes working and not others leads me to believe you might want to replace it.

Time for more parts!

Well I'm posting cause I'm getting ready to scratch the itch again.

I initially only planned on getting my oh so needed Sakebomb HID headlights and some rims this year.

Now that I have them it's time for some more parts. I feel like I could use a little more power so I'm looking at getting some water injection. My wheels break loose now so I was also planning on getting some stickier tires like Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec in 265/40/17 on my 8.5" wide rear rims. I've seen some say it's too wide and others say it fits as long as it's not on a track or anything too crazy. I'm not tracking my car yet so mostly just street driving for me, and by mostly I mean only. I think I'm gonna get the kit Dudemaaanownsanrx7 offers here on wannaspeed.com.

This of course means I'll have to get on the dyno and turn the boost up and see what happens.

This fall I'm gonna get some brakes and I've been looking at Cam's coilovers. I might get a full bushings kit then also.

Well I hope to make some purchases soon.

Thanks for the offer but I like the simplicity of his unit for the time being. When I finish nursing school I'll look more into some of the other kits out there and figure out which will work best for me. This is only if I "out grow" this one of course. I ordered it just now.

I also just had the local shop order me the ported shroud for my GT3582R. I scheduled some dyno time for July 10th and plan on turning up the boost. I'm thinking of testing the ported shroud against the one on there now. I sure hope I see a difference, lol.

Well my ported shroud came in now I'm just waiting for my new rims and water injection. Then I'll be ready for another day on the dyno.

This.

And congrats on sticking with the car man! I'm not that far from you, and was in the same boat when I bought my FD back in 07. Ironically enough, mine was bone stock as well (same color as yours), and I paid the same price you did, only to end up with blown coolant seals. Unfortunately, it had been overheated so I needed new rotor housings.

In any case, I had Dave build the motor up right, very similar to how you're doing it. Dave @ KDR is a great guy, btw. I've been dealing with him for years. We went with 3mm Black superseals in my car, a moderate streetport, RX-8 e-shaft, 9 studs around the combustion side, etc.

It sucks to get jerked around when buying an FD, but it happens all too frequently. They do say that when you buy an RX-7 you're buying someone else's problem. It's also buying the car that's the cheap part! :P As was stated though, there's NOTHING like it when you've got an FD that's running as it was intended. I'd love to get together with you some time to check out your car when you get her all back together!

I remember back when I first got mine and thought I'd be happy with 300RWHP. Years (and countless mods) later, I'm over 500...haha. Anyway, glad to see you're sticking with the project instead of throwing in the towel! I look forward to seeing the results.

Edit :: Just saw you are in Ft. Drum until the 26th. I spent a lot of time there myself. I'm a software engineer, and the company I work for designs/builds flight simulators. If you've ever flown the ABHFS UH-60 up there and listened to any of the sounds/talked on any radios, that was my doing. I engineer the comms/aural cue systems, so I've been to MANY bases all over the U.S. We're a DoD contractor, so our end customer is the Army, Navy, and/or Air Force.

My carI "finished" things up last year, you shut my lights off at OCC, lol. I want to check out your car this summer for sure. I was at FT Drum last summer, I'm home taking my psych nursing semester. I just found this video of my car a friend posted on youtube. I didn't realize how rich this thing is. I'm hoping to get a good 450whp out of it on July 10th when I get back on the dyno.

I'm nervous, I'm going to the track tonight and am contemplating about running my car. If I run it won't be full bore hardcore launching and stuff cause I haven't put the TII diff in yet. I've never run a car before so I really have no idea what to expect. We'll run into each other before the summer is over. When are you going to KDR next cause I might just head that way when you do since my family lives in Easton.

Well, I WAS all signed up to go back this Saturday (26th) with my Blitz iD Spec R dual solenoid boost controller so we can run 26psi and get close to 570RWHP....buuuuuut Dave broke his ankle, so now I'm scheduled for the 17th of July.

You will be fine at the track...Just watch out for axle hop, and make sure you get outta the throttle if you encounter any. Other than that, as long as you're spinning tires and all of that torque doesn't end up on the axles you'll be ok. I plan on tracking mine for the first time this season next Friday, July 2nd, at Empire Dragway (formerly NYIRP). I'm a bit nervous about snapping an axle since I have MUCH stickier tires now (555Rs), better suspension, and more power...I'm just going to have to either a) baby the launch, or b) hope that I spin.

Good luck man, I'm sure your car will do fine. Make sure you post in the time slip database!

Hey man, just saw your build. It's looking really good. Let me know if you need advice when you put the water injection kit in. The extra meter valve came in so i'll be sending it on monday along with some wire connectors. You may choose to run without it though since it'll be set to full open in any case. Look forward to seeing you break into the 500 club! Keep up the good work

Thanks, I'm anxious and nervous for Sat. In the realm of reality I only really expect to walk away with ~450whp, not because we can't make more but I'm not sure how far we'll push it for just the second time on the dyno.

Hey man, I've been following your build since the beginning, I love what you're doing with your FD.

How do you like the ETS FMIC? I am strongly considering one for myself, but it seems like a pretty rare FMIC (not many people are running them). What's your take?

Thanks man, and again- sick build!

I do really like it and it functions good for my setup BUT you do need to remove a good amount of the structural support to use. Thanks, it's been awesome building such a fun car. I actually had a kid pull up next to me the other day and ask me if it was new, lol, he was actually surprised when I told him it was a '94.

You just need to remove the crash bar, right?

I like the looks and performance of the ETS, so I think I'm leaning to it right now.

Well that was a disappointing dyno day, my clutch started slipping after the first pull. This was with the boost controller off at 13lbs and maybe 320whp. I couldn't believe it, this ACT clutch just went in last year. It's a heavy duty pp with a full face street/strip disk.

SO, I need to get a new clutch so I can get back to the dyno. After reading last night I'm still confused on what to get. I would prefer to go the route that is affordable and can last a year or 2. I know the exedy twin disk would be the best and the most long term solution but would prefer not to spend that much yet. I was wondering if I could get away with just replacing the disk with a 6 puck sprung? What do you guy's think? What could I realistically expect the HD PP and 6 puck sprung to hold? I only expect a year or two out of an inexpensive fix but don't want to spend money on something that won't allow me turn up the boost.

Ahhh, that sucks dude. Trust me, I've been where you are before. I actually just dropped the tranny in my FD today to replace my broken clutch fork.

To be honest, it wasn't even that bad to do. 6 hours from start to finish. Although I did have another set of hands helping me.

I'm planning on doing the clutch fork at the same time as the clutch, you know since it's out might as well do it.

What clutch set up are you using?

Can't quite remember, to be honest. lol...It's an ACT with a pretty heavy PP. IIRC, the pressure plate is rated to hold 520+ lb ft of torque. I'll dig back through my emails with A-Spec and see if I can figure out which one I have.

Got it. Pretty sure I've got this guy right here. The good ol ZX3-HDR6 http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/zx3-hdr6.htm

Got a new daily last friday, much better than the '07 Civic coupe I was driving. Notice the front bumper of the FD, I got backed into this summer on my way to a final. I just ordered my '99 spec bumper from corksport so I'm looking forward to getting it fixed. I'm gonna get stuff like the mirrors touched up while it's at the body shop.
