Interestingly, SPOautos put down 412 rwhp but on upgraded twins and he ran 125 mph traps. Nobody can just say what hp they are going to have. Every car is different. Good luck - Z32 TTs are awesome cars and with that much hp should make for a good race

Now a 410 rwhp 7 vs his 500hp ZX machine. The rx7 will get the launch and the ZX will pull on it.
It's refreshing to see somebody else who dosen't blindly believe the RX-7 can win ANY race.

It gets pretty funny after a while...

'I came up to this 500HP single turbo supra that had slicks I was in my third gen. I had just installed by DP and boost gage, it was a clear day so I thought we would give it a run. I knew I was gonna get creamed but DAMN! I never had a chance...blah, blah'

then a bunch of people reply "oh man is your FD healthy??? you should have killed him with your DP!"

"you must be a sucky driver"

blah, blah, blah...

ok, I admit it this is an GREAT exageration but you know what I mean.

LOL! I once beat a Lamborghini Diablo.

I stayed in front for about 40 yards but he blew past me when I shifted to 2nd. But you see, the race was already over. I wasn't trying my hardest

As for my Z, it'll probably be in the fall or early winter before its completed. (his car won't be completely ready for a while either) Rebuilt engine w/ upgraded internals. I'll be running JWT Sport 530 BB turbos. Should put down 480rwhp plus (maybe 500whp) w/ proper tuning. These turbos are fairly new (not a lot of info out yet on em), but I would expect to see full spool w/ these turbos somewhere between 3k and 3.5k rpms, faster than stock. Obviously bigger injectors, intercoolers, full exhaust, clutch, etc...... are on the mod list. I'm doing all of this at once. The Z will probably weigh around 3400 lbs., maybe high 3300's. I wish it weighed 2800 like the RX-7 =)

interesting. Unless I'm reading it wrong, the Z peaks about 4700 RPM and then drops like the Nasdaq on Sept 12. On my old setup my 7 peaked at 5800 and held till 7300. Not making any point in particular, just an observation.

Depends on the characterstics of the turbos. What did your torque curve looked like compared to this? Are you comparing it with your stock turbo dyno?

I dynoed with 1640 lbs tq, this is in 3rd gear and with a mid pipe, when I had my cat the torque curve was different on the low end.

Torque is for towing a boat.

Hmmm. I found your hp dyno and looks like you made 315rwhp and 1640lbs rwtq?

Since you were comparing stock turbos, here's a Z with stock turbos. The pic is a little small but you can see the rwhp(not torque) peaks by ~4500rpm and stays there until redline.

Yeah, that 1640lbs is just a tad high there..

I was more curious about the comparison of the two dynos on the Z's.. how would upgraded turbos cause the power to fall flat on its face like that past 5000rpm? The dyno from the stock turbos looks much better even though ultimate power is lower, what was wrong with the setup on the other car? I'd expect a similar curve with higher peaks considering the upgrades on the car. It looks like the A/F ratio is about 12:1 up there which is great for piston power.. just curious. Not enough timing?

In response to the original post it sounds like it would be a close race. Some of you guys need to calm down with the Supra complex, the 7 can be beat.

These cars have a hard time keeping the boost stable on the dyno since there's no load. If the car held the boost you'd see the power curve not falling after peak. On most bigger turbo Z32s you'll find the power to be climbing through the rpm band.

I've raced that car on the street, the power does not fall on its face like you think. I also saw it make an 11 second pass with the driver who had a hurt shifting arm.

Zhound..

The 1640 lbs of torque is real. You need to divide by the drive ratio. I did a 3rd gear run, that qualified as 265 ft lbs. The dyna pac works different than a dyno jet or mustang dyno.

how much boost were you running? I have stock twins in my Z and I was planning on going with bigger turbos. As of now, I am running 17psi with a FMIC to cool things down

That's my friend's Z with stock turbos. He runs upto 20psi on race gas. There are quite a few Z32s making this kind of rwhp on stock turbos. His screen name is 'degraded' on the Z forums.

My own car makes a tad bit more power.
