missfire, poor running
i have a 1993 rx-7 twin turbo, it starts fine from cold and hot, ticks over perfect and if you drive it under half throttle every where its fine, the problem occurs as soon as i use full throttle and try to accelerate hard. The engine is stuttering badly and backfireing out the exhaust also the boost gauge needle shakes at the same time missfire occurs? any ideas on the problem and how it can be fixed? thanks all for your time.ohh and i've already changed the plugs.

Plug wires might be arching. ( rev the car at night and see if you see sparking ). Clogged fuel filter, ( Reset the ECU first off..... Unplug neg terminal and hold brake pedal down for 30 secs ). Does the engine rev to redline when not in gear without probs? Also. list your mods.

if you rev it on stand still it slightly stutters at 5 ish r.p.m alsowhen the fault occurs when driving it's only going to .4bar on the boost, then stutters just over and under that reading, i've just found a squashed vacumn hose to the re-circ valve which goes to the air filter but it still hasn't done the trick, i can hold the plug leads and rev the car and i don't get a shock so they can't be earthing out.

Well however its spelled, he knew what i was saying... Anyway when by stock plug wires were "Arcing" My symptons were IDENTICAL to his.. i changed my wires and wammoo, everything ran great. Im only stating things that i would check, and things that have fixed issues like his.

ECU
Similar to mine, I could drive ok on part throttle but when I went WOT the boost would not go past 4-5psi and after it would stutter and pop.
Found that my slightly drained battery had caused the ECU to go into 'Limp home' mode causing fuel/ignition cut above a certain boost level.
Disconnect ECU for half an hour and then plug n play!
