Mini battery Q's
Mini battery Q's
I'll post this here cause probably alot more 3rd gen users
those of you with mini batterys like an oddesy (SP?) 680
do you have problems with small batteries dying? like leave the car parked for a few days with an alarm on? or leave the dome light on for like 10 mins LOL...
I need more room up front, and don't want to deal with a cut off switch if I relocate. but don't want to deal with dead batteries either...

The odyssey PC925 is smaller, lighter and has none of the issues some have w/ the 680. BUT, its not small enough to mount a large IC without relocating it to the rear. Leaves lots more flow space arount the rad. though...

I looked and found a couple threads... I'm not moving the battery. just getting a smaller one.
what I was asking here was personal experance / problems with the small batteries. I just wanted to hear "I've had mine for x years and it's aways started" or "I find mine dead every week and have to rechange it before the car starts" etc.
I'm just worried about getting a small one and having it always die.
I'm running a stereo with 2 subs and a 1 farad cap. I don't know if that will be a problem or not. I figure as long as it's not on with the car off. it shouldn't matter.

when mounted on it's side, the 925 is almost (not quite) the same thickness of the 680. i initially had the 680 but my fd wouldn't start because of my stereo system, so i switched to the 925. the battery might drain abit if you don't use your car often but not by much. just recently, i didn't start the fd for a month and the battery drained to about 10V. i used a battery charger and it was fine.
I have the 680. I dont know if something slow drains it, but after about 4-5 days, there is not enough juice to start the car. I usually park it in my garage and throw a trickle charger on it. Of course this does not help if you go on vacation and leave it parked somewhere.
However, disconnecting the neg terminal lets the battery stay charged(leaving me to believe something is discharging my battery). I have gone a month this way, unhooking battery. Of course, you cant set your alarm.
One more thing. I have a hefty stereo system(amp, 2 10" woofers in rear) and with a capacitor, my system runs fine w/ this battery.
So, supposedly, if you dont have much draining the battery, the 680 is suppose to last quite a while(Nick at N-tech told me this), but in reality my two 680's have lasted about 3-4 days hooked up to my FD and 1+ month just sitting there not hooked up.
Hope this helps,
Steve

I've had the N-Tech BMK for approx 3 years. I've also got
the OEM stereo still in my 93. The battery will die if I let the car sit for more than 4-5 days. I don't know if it's the OEM alarm that drains it or what... It's pretty much done this since I got it new...
Good Luck!
