They stink ?

I have a straight through exhaust with restrictor plate and set at 10psi. Car pulls like mad, but I will have to see how much I loose with a cat. The smell is sometimes unbearable. I couldn't complain about the sound though

in defense of the MP, i don't have a problem with the smell on cooler/cold days and months because the window is up.

also, i have never noticed any low end power problems. i went from a cat directly to the MP (never had a high flow) and can't say that i noticed lack of power.

I guess the main question is : How Can U achieve having a MP and have minimal smell and have a nice exhaust sound not too loud..??

The smell; you just have to deal with... As for the loudness, a resonated midpipe will help quiet things down.

Use the smell as an excuse to use sweeter smelling race fuel

If you want dyno numbers, go with a midpipe. There's not many people on the forum that have over 320 rwhp let alone 300 rwhp that has a HF cat. I remember ErnieT gained about 25-30 rwhp over a HF cat with a before/after dyno a while back.

Looking at all the comments here it seems that all FDs are different - most with midpipes will make the hp - some say they don't lose low-end. I had a Meineke cat welded onto a midpipe ($150 installed) and was able to get 380 rwhp at 15 psi with it - I think it just depends on the car and mods.
