midpipe in ~ the true power of rotary!

This past weekend I installed a midpipe on my car, changes that took place were:

1.) My car sounds like a helicopter at idle, which I think is sick as hell.

2.) Sound level is a little louder but much nicer. What I mean is my setup before was a bit quieter than what it is now, but it just doesn't sound and feel right since you can literally hear/feel the restriction in the exhaust especially at the higher rpms.

3.) It fixed my low transitional boost problem. Boost pattern was 12-6-11.5, now is 12-9-11.5 doing a 3rd gear 40-70 run according to my boost gauge.

4.) Like what everyone else said, acceleration is simply amazing. The car just keeps on pulling HARD all the way to redline. I mean you've gotta get the midpipe in order to fully experience the power of the rotary. Let's just say a rotary with full kicks ***!

5.) No boost creeps even with an Apex'i GT spec exhaust!! Peak boost stayed the same before and after the midpipe. 0.78 bar according to the pfc. I guess the home depot wastegate and precontrol needle valves really work.

6.) Gas fumes...but you can only smell it when you're behind the car or you're at a stop w/ the windows down and the wind is blowing from the back. This is the only change that really bothers me since it stinks up my garage when the turbo timer is running.

7.) --->

Overall I think everyone should get the midpipe. The sound and the speed of my car make me feel like I'm driving a race car on the street. I now have the confidence to face the challenges by any car on the road...peace.

Anyone with a midpipe should have an ecu.

Not yet! But if you do anything but stock intake your dead. You need restriction somewhere. Better off to forget the smelly midpipe until your ready to enrich your mix, new ECU. Free up your intake first K&N drop in or a cold air intake and watch your ratio's. IMHO

I've got a downpipe, midpipe, catback and don't experience much boost creep, the only time I noticed it was WOT in 4th at around 6k rpms... Crept up to about 12 psi. But how often do you really need to go WOT in 4th at 6k rpms? That's well over 100 mph Just keep an eye on it, everyone's car is different.. If you see spiking or too much creep, take it easy til you can get an ECU and as said before, don't touch your intake til you do or you WILL get hella boost creep.

for those who experience boost creeps, what type of boost control do you have??? Because I have 0 boost creeps...

oh yeah I forgot to mention that my peak injection duty went from 78% to 86% during the 3rd gear run.

Midpipe does rock in the mid to high end! I've been modding my car and hadn't realized how much low end I've lost, but it has certainly been a worthwhile trade off for the mid and high rpm power!!!

I test drove a nearly stock FD this weekend (rb catback was the only perf mod) and damn there was a lot more bottom end (2200rpm - 2800rpm) power than I remember the stock FD having.

I'm still happy to be putting down 100hp more, so I'll live with having to keep my rpm's over 3500! The car just sings in the higher rpm range anyways!!!

I kind of miss the good ol days of jimlab quips, "the -7- can't lose", and when if you had a Pettit ECU and all the bolt-ons you were king of the hill

take a little trip back in time to 2002
