The wire for the after market water temp guage -- how do you keep it from melting? I obviously ran it across too much heat originally and don't want to splice it or replace it -- I've tried the plastic coil type cover, but they don't stand up to the heat and simply melt. I was thinking about the smallest heater type hose from a parts store and just slitting it then putting the wire inside? The guage works fine, it's just the look under the hood and I do worry that the readings might eventually be affected.

Thoughts on how to cover it so as to not melt?

It shouldn't be that hard to run your wire so it doesn't touch hot metal. Re-route your wire.

 

definitely Reroute! If it melted the first time, then it is obviously in a bad place.

 

Where are you getting your reading from? Mine read from the TB hose and the wire just travel along the firewall, never have to touch anything hot.
