Nice vids! So did you artificially make your car do that or is it natural? I'm running pig rich right now (1.2 on the O2 sensor...it's not even supposed to go that high!) with a dp and mp and catback and still not getting anymore than the occasional flame. Did you adjust your fuel cut or ignition timing or anything?
I GOTTA have some flames of my own....

I never really understood the whole shooting flames on purpose thing... Not like it enhances performance... If anything it takes away from..
But that's just me. I'm sure lots of full exhaust FD's will pop some nice ones, but I'm sure not going to tune for fire... LMAO

From what I understand it's not just the gas, but when you burn it... Or in other words, spark makes a difference too...
If you retard the timing to the point where the plugs fire at the last possible second, the wave of flame is still expanding while the fuel rich mixture is traveling into the exhaust manifold/turbo housings, which are "Hopefully" red hot, and will jdhuegel1 cause increased performance due to the turbine wheels getting pushed around with the expanding flame of the exhaust and causing a rapid rise in Turbine Pressure, although at an initial loss in HP due to the retarding of the timing... so it's then up to you weather you use the charge you just got out of the increase in turbine pressure... of course the side effect is the fireballs out the tailpipe...
so as I understand it if, you tune to retard timing upon letting go of the throttle, and reducing fuel minimally , you should shoot huge flames... if you cut fuel incrementally with spark you should see pops, like in the video... (It's tough to judge the length on the video..) This is all of course if you have a tunable ECU...

I understand your post. Thanks for the info.
I'll still tune to perform though.

I'm running a PFC. It's just tuned rich .. not planned or anything though..but I'll tell you something, even before I had the PFC when I put the exhaust on it would shoot flames and .. sorta' hard start in the mornings. In the mornings, if you stomp on the gas before it woke up properly.. man.. loud loud pops and flames .. other guys are running the same PFC map I am using and don't get the flamage I do.. which leads me to believe .. it's a function of the exhaust being so big and my 1600's are dumping so much fuel that when it hits the hot exhaust it ignites.. note - this only happens if the EGT is over 500 deg C. I can rev and back off as much as i want but if the EGT is below 500 deg C.. nothing.
