Jedon, do you live near the coast or something? Your wheels actually have corrosion under the clear coat. I have the same wheels and the clear seems pretty tough. Stock wheels with machined faces and clear usually hold up well for years unless someone uses that harsh wheel cleaner and/or lives on the coast. Salt tears stuff up man.

Just had to chime in huh? Whats wrong? You really think his car doesn't perform the same (or better) than it did before? It's better off sitting in the grass at a ******* car show right? Oh wait... He made it "look" bad. Wah ******* wah. You really need to buy a chair and get out of that booster seat.

How does a couple tweaked fenders equal, "R.I.P."?

Because anything short of perfect must mean it's no good anymore I guess.

I bet I can find 50 FD's in better condition on Ebay that deserve the crusher more than this car..

If you can't find a copy of this month's Import Racer article about rolling your own, PM me with your email address and I might just be able to help you out with a pdf.

Thank you for all your comments guys.
The wheels were on the car when I bought it and were already coroded under the clearcoat. I live in San Diego and the car is not garaged so I'm sure that does not help.

Although the fender lip no longer catches, it still hits the fender liner pretty bad. I have a Pettit Track-Pro from sway bar ready to put on, would that help?

Laguna Seca was a blast, can't wait until I get to do something like that again but I don't have the time or money right now.

yeah, I'd say if he ever wants to be taken seriously he should come back under another screen name (or better yet no return), that post will haunt him forever.

1. You might try using a dremel, grind the lip off completely. Trim the lip off, up to the point where it used to bend over on itself. Assuming we're dealing with steel fenders here, if you leave that bare steel it will probably rust, you might want to coat it with something, maybe touchup paint, to prevent corrosion.

2. Speaking of corrosion, you can put wax on your wheels, that way the brake dust won't stick to the paint and eat it up. Unless your wheels are chrome or something, then you've just gotta polish them like you were a Harley owner or something...

Form fits function, not the other way around. If it works, go with it.

scotty305:
1. Not a bad idea, does anyone have pictures of this?
2. The wheels are clearcoated and corroded under that so they need to have the clearcoat stripped and then need to be re-polished and clearcoated and then need to be taken care of.

jeff48: LOL!!

JONSKI: yeah, problem is that it didn't totally fix the problem. The lip doesn't catch anymore but I get quite a bit of rubbing of the tire against the fender liner. (what's left of the liner, pretty torn up.)
