So if those are the sides, where is the front and rear?
i beleive the sideskirts are made in two pieces so that when they are mounted and either the front or rear quarter panel needs to be removed, the sideskirt does not need to be dismantled.

the front addition that would match the oem body kit would be the lower r1 or 99 spec type-r lips, and the rear would be the factory mudflap i believe.

i think the $197 sideskirt a few of the other guys were referring to is just the black thing that covers the rear part of the jack rail towards the back of the rocker panel area on our cars. all fd's are supposed to come with them stock, just nobody really refers to it as a "sideskirt" because that is really not what it is.

Sssssssspank you berry much for the info!! My body shop just offered me the OEM side skirts yesterday and told me that I have to check them out and get them. At first I said won't it look weird with just the sides and not anything else. But then again I have OEM front with 99 spec lip, no nothing on the rears, so I dunno.......

BTW, are the OEM sides made of Urethane or Fiberglass?

those are the apex sides, probably the closest you can get to oem for less than a grand. i used to have them, but sold them after deciding to sell the fd.

the apex sides are also very nice and clean and a perfect fit, but the only disadvantage is they are made of fiberglass, while the oem skirts are made of flexible abs plastic, like the front bumper is.

how much is the body shop offering the oem sideskirts to you for? which shop, if you dont mind me asking?

Actually I like the apex i skirts better. They are a little bit more subtle looking. IMHO

I don't know yet. He keeps telling me to get them because he's installed 3-4 sets of the OEM FD side skirts already and keeps telling me they look bad ***, especially with the 99 spec front end. I'll be talking to him in 2 days and will ask him for details. I don't know if he's already sold them or not, since there was another VR FD in the shop when I brought my car in.

ok fellas! here we go again, if I can get this pic to go, you can see the little wedged shap extension hanging from the bottom of the rear rocker panel, just in front of the rear tire. thats it! real cute anit it? for $197.05 each. these side spoilers are part of the "R1" ground effects package along with the chin spoiler and rear wing. dont know why but my 93 base came with them from the factory! go figure. now how do i get this picture from the floppy to this thread? any help please!!

Since I have both sets, lets set the facts straight....

OEM Mudflaps are PLASTIC.
The set of 4 will run about $200
They were a dealer OPTION in the US.

OEM Sideskirts are Rubber.
The set of 4 will run you about $1300
These were NEVER available as a dealer option in the US.

I got them used for $500

Unfortunetly, I haven't been able to get these installed yet. I'm only working parttime to finally get college out of the way.

SIDE SPOILERS, NOT SKIRTS

If someone could explain the steps to get a picture from the floppy to this thread i can show you what the "oem" side spoilers look like. it keeps saying the file is too big!

sorry for the confusion on this thread, my mistake! I thought you were asking about the factory side spoilers, but it appears you are talking about side skirts, two different animals, I will butt out.

Holy schnikies they're rubber? Like 100% rubber? Won't the paint come off a lot more easily then? I thought they would be urethane or that ABS plastic stuff.........

Look at the pic of how I am bending the **** out of it.
It's a LOT more flexible than urethane.

You need to add a chemical to paint called "Flex Agent"
It allows the paint to become flexible when dry.
